Hello, i will get a SunDisk ultra 3d 1TB tomorrow and i will clone it with the B&O software tool. I understand it so that i have to replace the original HDD with the SSD and then boot up with the b&o tool and then clone the entire HDD, is that the right way ??

Thanks for any tips

Good if you have the b&o tool (which I do not know) - instead I used a cloning device as the drive ID needs to be copied as well. Cloning devices are relatively inexpensive. best, Robert

Job is done with the B&O Tool and it was very easy, clone the entire HDD and after that i had to run the recovery. Cool

The Size of the new HDD was automaticly acepted...

Hi!

I am just curious... what version of BS5/BM5 Service Manual is that from?

Service Manual I have doesn't have that picture on page 4.6... :-)

Would you be so kind to share it?

Thanks,

Damir

I think it's the Manual of the Maintaince Tool

How is the BS5 running after the hard disk change?

it is quieter the temperatures are lower and it is faster if you change sources or scroll through the tracks

I just want to add to Gerads solution:

1.) I bought a 1TB Sandisk ULTRA 3D SSD as suggested.

2.) purchased Acronis and created an Acronis 2018 rescue CD

3) mounted the old BeoMaster disk and the new 1TB Sandisk ULTRA 3D SSD in my PC (no other drives)

4.) Booted my PC on the Acronis rescue CD and selected “clone disk”. Source old BM5 and destination new SSD

The clone process cloned the old BoeMaster 1tb disk, including 400gb music files to the Ssd. I mounted the SSD in my BeoMaste and everything worked - it was a 100% clone- just faster and silent!

I am sure that you can also use Acronis 2019 and 2020, probably also 2017.

Good to know. Thanks.

And good that the prices are getting so low. BS5 is just so much better with a SSD installed.

I’m trying this out as well, currently copying the original hdd to a Sandisk SSD using an offline clone device.

Any idea how long time the cloning process will take?

Cloning lasted about 4 hours.

Installed and running in no time at all.

This upgrade is definitely worth the time and money.

Reading through forums here has been a great help. Thanks to all.

I have managed to perform this upgrade using a "Yucun" brand 512GB SSD and Marcium Reflect. Theoretically any SSD would work as long as it has the same amount or more space on it. i.e. a 500GB SSD would not work with a 512GB Hard disk, which is why I specifically looked for 512GB SSD.

The software just transferred everything from one drive to the other and took approximately 5 hours to read the information and a few minutes to write to the information.

The system starts up in seconds instead of minutes and is a lot quieter and cooler, it also seems to be smoother when scrolling. Please message me if you would like any help, it would even be possible to repair existing hard disk failures or errors to get the system up and running again.

I’m not sure you are right on this.

I had a crucial 1TB SSD which wasn’t recognized by the BM5. With other members we think that it’s due to modern SSD controllers not being compatible with BM5 motherboard .

Somewhere I have posted a list of SSD s having the same controller as the first 500GB SSDs from Crucial which were working fine.

Could you please give the exact name of the Yucun SSD, complete detailed Model name.

Because not every model of a same brand is compatible, as for the Crucial:

MX300 is OK

MX500 does not work.
