Hello All,

I have a first edition Beosound 5 and Beomaster 5 (500GB) and was looking to purchase a Beo 6 remote control. I am not very technical, and I am wondering how I can get it programmed for my unit. I put a call into the nearest retailer to ask and was kind of put off. They said there was no way to do it myself and that it would probably be about $1000.00 to have someone do it for me.

Huh?

Hi,

you can do it on your own with the configuration tool. You can find a link  in this thread

http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/12278.aspx?PageIndex=2

on the last page and post.

Hey, that's great!

I took a look at the instructions for the tool and do you (or anyone) know;

1. Is there any concern that my first edition Beosound 5/Beomaster5 wouldn't work with a second hand Beo6 remote?

2. Would there be any problem with the version of the firmware loaded on the remote and my inability (because I do not have a dealer logon) to update it?

3. If the remote comes with a configuration already loaded on it, does creating and loading a new one on it and deleting the old one erase the firmware? (which I cannot retrieve without being a dealer)

Thanks again!

Beo 5/6 will work on all B&O devices which work together with minimum Beolink 1000 or Beo4.

The firmware of the Beo 5/6 will be updated with Beo 5/6 config tool, so no need for a dealer.

When creating a completely new configuration the old configuration will be overwritten.

A new or altered configuration does nothing to the firmware of Beo 5/6.

Hope this helps,

Martin

Yep that helps a lot.

I guess I'll start searching for one then.

Thanks

Stay tuned, I might have some questions getting through it once I find one.

One more thing,

With this remote will I have the capability to fast forward and rewind in a song?

You can add FF-keys with the tool.

Ok,

So I bid and won a Beo 6 and when it got here I'm pretty sure it is a Beo 5. I,m not sure what additional functionality a Beo 6 has, but I'm just using it to control a Beomaster5/Beosound 5.

Does the wifi on a 6 do much?

I'm pretty sure it is a 5 because the software version is 1.01a.

I have to get to a 32 bit machine to use the config tool, but going through the directions, am I correct in saying that;

1. I need to enter serial number, comment, and language.

2. I need to create 1 zone and add the Beosound audio master to the zone

3. And then finalize?

Are the buttons then assigned to the remote for all the functions of the Beosound? Where/how do I get control for  fast forward and rewind? Do I have to do something additional? There wasn't anything I could find in the CT directions.

Thanks.

Hi

in this thread you can see the difference http://archivedarchivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/36684.aspx. The picture is nearly in the middle.

There are only two diffenences between Beo5 and Beo6. The Beo6 has a larger display which reacts instantly when touched and the wifi fuction.

The program is not extremy complicatet. You need to go though the index taps in the upper area. It works with drag an drop.

I think the program gets the serial automatically!?

At the end you need to download it to you Beo5 or 6.

The Hardkeys are programmed automatically, I think. So fast forward and rewind will work. To check it. Go to the "edit" tap and get your cursor on the picture of the beo5 and move over the "button" for fast forward or rewind. There should pop up a box named "wind" and "rewind".

I hope you understand my english. I'am not a native speaker ;-)

Greetings

Does that mean I don't get cover art on a Beo 5?

Does a Beo 5 show my Nmusic library?

The Beo5 has no two-way-communication/ wifi. So you don't get covers on Beo5.

https://www.bang-olufsen.com/~/mediaV3/Files/User-Guides/BeoSound5/beosound5_userguide_english.pdf

Take a look at the manual page 8.

To check if you remote is a Beo6 got to the menue. If there is a point for "wireless" it is a beo 6.

https://www.bang-olufsen.com/~/mediaV3/Files/User-Guides/Beo6/beo6_userguide_english.pdf

Also page 8 ;-)

Good luck.

Ok, I'm feeling dumb.

I thought I had a Beo 5 because there was no wireless option when I went into the setup menu, but now that I reconfigured the remote, it shows up.

Here's what I did. I plugged the remote into the computer, the configuration tool recognized the serial #, I added a zone and put my Beomaster 5/Beosund 5 product in it (as an audio master). I went to the view screen (didn't change anything else) and played with the touch screen buttons which seemed to do what I wanted, and downloaded the configuration onto the remote successfully.

When I try to use the remote, the only touchscreen things that work are the return, and the plus sign brings up numbers. I cannot touch the zone and make anything happen, or change between headings in the setup menu by touching the screen. I can navigate the setup menu with the arrow buttons and the go button, but I cannot enter a password to connect to the network, and I'm sure I won't be able to select things from the touch screen when I get to my music.

Ideas?

Nobody is dump...you ask for help and you got it. Thats it.

Hm...sounds a litte bit strange.

http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/14708.aspx

Which config tool do you use?

I don't know...maybe switch it off..hold the button in the middle for 10 sec or download the config again??

Maybe the Beo6 did an update to a newer version, so the download of the configuration file didn't work correctly??

I don't know...I think you need to try some things on your own.

Sorry. I can not help properly ;-(

Did you try pressing a little bit harder and longer on the buttons on the screen.

With my Beo5 I tried using it like the screen of a modern tablet, but I have to press the screen buttons a little bit harder and longer.

Thanks for responding,

Yep, I tried that too, but from what I am reading, that aspect of having to push hard was a Beo 5 thing and was resolved with the 6 model. I even tried a hard reset by disconnecting the battery and I think I'm coming to the conclusion that the screen may be bad.

Hi again!

OK, Now I have obtained a properly functioning Beo 6. I loaded in my configuration for a stand alone Beomaster5 and Beosund 5. 1 zone, audio master, no other settings touched. The remote controls the basic settings on the Beosund 5 (play, pause, next, etc) but I am unable to get my N music on the screen. My Beomaster 5 is hard wired to my network and is connected to the internet properly. I went into the Wireless setup on the beo 6 and connected to my wifi and the unit said connection ok after I entered the password, but the Beo 6 info heading says access point not connected. It gives a Beo 6 IP as 0.0.0.0 a mac address and a server IP firmware 4.3.4

What am I missing?

Can you try with autoconnect?

Autoconnect to a wireless setup
> Select Wireless in the Setup menu.
> Press Auto on Beo6.
> Press the 'connect' button (WPS) on your
access point.
> Press OK on Beo6. Beo6 connects to the
access point, this may take a while.
> When connection is established,
Connection OK appears in the
Beo6 display.

Or maybe this is interesting

That thread gave me some clues and my router does separate wifi from wired connections. Once I got them on the same page, things started working!!

One last question........

Is there a way to fast forward and rewind within a track?

Fine Smile

Does the button for wind and rewind don't work automatically? Hm....

Which configuration tool do you use? With the newest one it is not possible to proram the hardbuttons yourself. You can obly programm the touchscreenbuttons.

Did you test in the "edit" tap like I menioned in a post above?

I used 6.84. The buttons don't do it automatically. They act like the up and down buttons and just advance to the next or previous queued track.

What do you mean "test in the edit tap?

Hi,

I used the 6.84 version and the double arrow buttons act just like the up and down single arrow buttons and advance or give the previous track in the queue.

I'm not sure what you mean by "test the edit tap"

In the configuration tool there are several taps like "zones", choose product" and also "edit" In this tap you can test the "buttons" by clicking on in the picture from the Beo6. if you do not click but only move over the double arrow "button" a pop up shows which fuction is programmed for this button.

The CT version 6.84 do not allow to program the hard keys (buttons) yourself. Perhaps you should use an older Version, maybe 6.22

Hmmm,

When I hover over those buttons they say wind and rewind, but when I download the configuration they do not perform that way.

Has anyone been able to get them to work in that manner? I know that there is no option for these functions on the Beosound 5 itself, but when I bought it, I was told this could be performed from a remote.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem. My Beo6 configuration downloads without errors but the wind/rewind hard hardkeys will not function. I have tried both 6.84 and 6.22 versions of the configuration tool to no avail.
