dear chris, don't be surprised to have poor vocals on your bv 7 55 if you use your bl 7.6 only or as center speaker.
I don't have any issue with my bv7 40 mk6 nor my 7 55 mk2 with a bl10
The choice of the right center speaker is more important than we used to believe
4 beolab 5, beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2, 2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...
Chris Townsend:I honestly don't think it's anything to do with the speaker, rather the technology. I had exactly the same problem with our 7-40 with a Beolab 7-4. Whatever I did I couldn't amplify the centre channel. My mother in laws Avant RF and our 5-42 have much better vocals. I think the new Avant does too. I can turn the 5-42 all the way down and still hear what's being said very clearly, not so on our 7-55. Anyway, will this next Avant be the last one I wonder? Beovision 7-55 Mk2, Avant RF 28, Beolab 9, Beolit 15, Beoplay A1/A2, Beocom 2, Beotime, H3 ANC/H8/H6/H2, Form 2, Beoplay A3, Beovision 5-42 connected to a DVD1
you didn't understood that on a bv 7 the level of the center speaker is set by pushing up or down the level of the front speaker, that's simple.
the beolab 7.4 is the worst center speaker, b&o has made. I met many users who dislike it.
the 7.1, 7.2, 7.6 are not designed for being a center speaker.
I never had to touch the sound of any of my bv 7 when it is set correctly.
that doesn't mean the vocals of an avant are not better but if you had such issue with your bv 7 don't blame it but look at your settings or your ears.
You can blame the bv 7 generation to lack of some menu settings but at least they were very well calibrated. With some tricks like this you can reach near perfection for the sound and picture.
I had to make 5 attemps at least for setting my 11 46 in order to have a very good picture for any source (sd or hd) and I have modifiied deeply the original settings for this purpose.
Being able to modify every setting is not a progress if at start the tv is not well calibrated.
I am afraid that this point is going to be worse with any new generation.
One believe to have more freedom to set its tv but few have the capabilities to set it correctly in order to have an optimum picture and sound. Bang olufsen is more competent for this.
B&o please do this job and don't use the final user for setting your tv like any other tv maker is actually doing. Sony is very good in this field.
I wonder when it will be actually released.....it will have the Android OS, and as such expect it to inherit the bugs that the 14s and Horizons are struggling with at the moment.......and i did laugh at the FlatPanels article mention of multi room......i'd bet good money that B&O dont have multi room working on the new platform TVs for another 6 months......
Avant NG vs Beovision 14
What are the main differences, except from design and 3D?
I would rather choose (design-wise) for a BV14, but is an Avant NG the "better" choice?
isn't it much the same choice as previously existed between the current Avant and the BV11?
the designs havent really changed, and the panels are much the same big picture....ok, there is 4K now on both designs, now that the 14 has 4K, but there is no OLED or HDR......
Soundwise the Avant's (old and NG) have a 3.0 speaker system - the 11/14 a 2.0.
Most importent of course, if you run the tv's without additional external speakers.
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
is it your main function on this forum, to put every thread on the right way ? you just done it twice in this young thread.

with so short distance between the 3.0 speakers, you won't really notice the difference at reasonable distance
it is a mess now to post with an ipad on this forum. duplicate post, unable to edit any post...
please administrators take this into account.
Fair point of course, my bad......guess i was talking in very broad terms,,,,,i suspect when B&O launch their LG panels there will be much more excitement, especially as all the current software glitches should be sorted by then, and the screens will genuinely offer something new, different and better than the existing offerings......
a 7 55 mk2 is more actual than a tv which the only superiority is to able to display 10 percent of the pictures we used to watch actually.
I saw recently one bv avant 55 and 75 and it displayed tv source, it looks like a poor dvd.
again it is a thread about the avant ng but we can give our opinion when somebody talks about its center speaker.
the avant is not better than a bv 11 because he get 4k capabilities.
the bv 11 sounds is just amazing without any modification.

I am sure, that Geoff Martin would not agree on that!

The Avant NG is based on AndroidTV.
LG does not use this platform - but webOS.
Would you think, that the LG-BV's will use the (then improved) Android user interface?
I fear not!
And when I think of the way they/LG control their tv's - just imagine a Beo Magic Remote ----- oh boy!
the bionic guy who works for b&o ? this is his job and his ears are not common. I will add that he used to attach attention to things we didn't notice at all. For this he is also helped with measurement materials.

If you say so ;-(
