Hi,
Can anyone advise if the platters for these two turntables are interchangable? The parts numbers are slightly different - the 8002 is part no. 2726148 and the 6002 part no. 27261646, but they look identical.

They are not identical and not interchangable. The subplatters, on which they rest, are different (one being belt driven, the other by eddy-current),the platter undersides reflects this.

They are very similar - I have had a Beogram 8002 with a 6002 platter that worked flawlessly
Vinyl records, cassettes, open reel, valve amplifiers and film photography.
If B&O could have used the same platter for both, they wouldn't have made two different.I don't remember the exact difference in detail but I do seem to remember that the 6002 platter is thinnerat the center part with a thicker rim edge. I also seem to remember a difference in weight which plays ahuge role with the eddy-current drive and platter braking of the 8002.Wrong platter thickness = Wrong cartridge tracking angle.
The platter is thinner with a bigger edge - rubber strips were glued to the bottom side to increase the height, I think the seller (very experienced B&O mechanic) had adjusted the ride height of the platter to fit correctly. I didn't have any problems with the speed when playing or braking when turning off - the current owner (a family member) is very happy with it
