... which is what he said. An LG panel, LG software, and B&O speakers underneath.
I've heard nothing but rave reviews about the sound from the Eclipse, so this is without question it seems - but the panel and software appear to be pure LG, with no B&O 'tweaking' at all...

mr_anders_son:All I can say it is a LG set with B&O shelf...notining more or less...sadly...
So who is going to buy it then? I won't buy something like this unless the price is directly equivalent for the LG/competitor equivalent, which it won't be. If I am to pay extra, what exactly 'is' the extra I am paying for? Linking to other products? No - I've now sold every B&O product I own apart from a few Play products here and there; better picture quality? No - unlikely from what I am reading on this forum; better sound quality? Yes - probably, but I am now living in another home, which is too small for sound reproduction to be relevant; a new chassis or shape? No - well perhaps if a couple of hundred more but that's all I'd pay, tops. It seems I am no longer the typical B&O customer. However, I can't help but wonder who is? What's left... a different remote, products plagued with software issues and reports of appalling customer services from a company that doesn't care or respond to its loyal customers? That doesn't interest me.
Maybe it's not B&Os fault. Perhaps this is simply the modern era and a technological sign of the times. I don't desire or require B&O as I once did - not deliberately, but just nothing that makes them different or stand out from the crowd anymore. The competition is just as good and in many ways better. My new TV will be the Sony A1. Just renovating the new property first. B&O was always attractive to me because of the whole package you bought into - it was so much more than just buying a product. I liked and valued the relationship I had with my local dealer and the overall customer service I received from B&O; I felt special. B&O has sadly changed its ways. I can't and won't ever buy into a company that doesn't value its customers. I am sad for B&O. It doesn't affect me as I will simply buy different products, there's plenty of them. I do pity B&O though for losing what they once were. I can only put it down to greed, which like so many others in this day and age, they bring on themselves. When will businesses realise that you never buy a product, you always buy the person/company/service? I always thought B&O understood this. Simon.
B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.
Rumoured - from a rather reliable source - price in Denmark for the BV Eciplse 55" is DKK. 63.000.
Which is even cheaper than the Loewe Bild 9 55" (at DKK 64.999).
Think of the Eclipse as a big NL-AudioSystem with an (LG)OLED screen ;-)))
Lots of placement option, also.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
But will it have the electronic curtains
Good question!
I sure hope it will - but why not?
badgersurf: But will it have the electronic curtains
Why not? Loewe has it for switching off.
Millemissen: Think of the Eclipse as a big NL-AudioSystem with an (LG)OLED screen ;-)))
No, not quite!
With the new 'tv', you will have AirPlay (audio - probably AirPlay 2?), ChromeCast Audio, Bluetooth audio, Spotify Connect.......which was not possible per default via the Avant.
Basicly what you have in any new NL Sound System from B&O - plus hopefully some more connection possibilities.

I think there is a mistake : the LG "wallpaper" OLED is only available from 65"... At approx. 8k€. If your price is for a 65" Eclipse, it would mean that the Eclipse is only €500 more than the LG version... Which would be a very agressive pricing in B&O terms, considering you get a full NL audio system!

Could it be the price for the screen only... You then have to buy the audio system for an extra 5-6000€
Not sure that makes sense, for them to sell screens separately, as they will be integrated into / require the soundbar / speaker to work even at a basic level.....after all they are not making a panel with a speaker, and then also a soundbar, as two separate product releases........and as with the Avant and BV14, Horizon, the sound processing (BS4 engine) is integrated into the TV offering.....

Sandyb:Doubtful about pricing....the 55 inch BV14 is around 6500 pounds, the 55 Avant is around 8000, so the 55 Eclipse is likely to be in the same postcode......so I suspect you are about right....
yes, 8300 euros is pretty close to the 6500 i quoted....ok maybe i understated a bit, but only a bit.....regardless, when was the last time B&O priced a Tv set cheaply? My point remains, the 55 inch Eclipse ( if there is one) will surely be in line with their other TVs...the Avant will be discontinued, and replaced by the Eclipse, which suggests even further it will not be priced more attractively than either the BV14 or the existing Avant.......

??? The Eclipse is not a 'wallpaper' OLED - would be strange to have a wallpaper tv on a stand.
Loewe offer their Bild 7 OLED tv's in 55" and 65" - why shouldn't B&O?
Note: the pice mentioned is for the 55" version.
Same here.. after numerous software updates my BV14-40 is pretty good!

.....which suggests even further it will not be priced more attractively than either the BV14 or the existing Avant.......
.... which will then hammer the values of the BV14 and exiting Avant to the point that when the dealer makes a part exchange offer the customer will tell him/her to go take a hike. "Cost to change" isn't something most people can work on - they just see "I paid x-amount for that TV 2 years ago, and now it's only worth y-amount - and that's a huge loss.."
On that front, I sympathise with B&O - but more so the dealers who just can't win no matter what happens when prices drop.
I hope B&O dealers across the world sell 25 Eclipse's a week. That would make me so happy. I'm also crossing my fingers, toes, arms, legs and nasal hair that it hits the ground running with zero software issues.

I have to say the BV14 image quality is incredible when watching 4k. I don't know any other company who can tune an LCD panel like B&O. Even the 2008/9 BV7-40 Mk3 picture still looks perfectly acceptable in 2017 against current offerings by the mass market producers!!
As for knowing more than you - actually I don't, for once! I could, of course, tap-up my sources for plenty of details - but nobody has thrown at me images and specs. I do know the basics, but not the fine details of the new Eclipse. I've been too busy in my own little bubble to get over excited - but everyone is raving about the sound.
Everything about the panel is LG - it's the sound that's truly B&O. I've also had a bit of feedback that some dealers are a bit upset that it sounds SO good they may struggle to sell speakers alongside it!
Let's see when it's launched then!
Are there any rumours about the next software update? When will it come?

Are you sure it is a recent update? What is the update information that is mentioned in the update menu of your TV?
Hi
just checked - and NO - the software release date was in june
So i guess my TV "lost" its software and then updated it was the latest
Still waiting for a newer software version to fix issues - especially with the menus
Just got home from work and turned on my 14 and there is a software update available.
I am currently downloading it. I will check after I’ve done the school run and report back the version number
Version No. QM153E.0.6.3.9
realease date 03/11/17 12:43
took about 25mins to download and install

Interesting... nothing new on my BV14...
Not noticed any improvements, but I have just had a brand new set installed free of charge. May have sent through early as I asked the sales director to send it.
still have ghosting evident around people on some broadcasts but much better than the old set. Is has anyone else experienced this?
Im watching through a Sky Q 2TB box
The common release keeps getting postponed. I guess there are still issues to be solved in the update.
