Hi!

I have a Beoplay A6 and a Beoplay A9 which I use a lot for multiroom music.

However recently i cannot get the the units to play that the other unit is playing, when playing from spotify connect.

i.e. I start some music from spotify to play via Spotify connect on my A9, I then pres the play button on the A6, but it just starts playing from the standard source. When I try to join via the BeoMusic app, it just does nothing. If i press the play button in the app, the A6 takes starts plyaing from spotify connect, but then the A9 stops.

This happened about a month ago, before that everything worked perfectly, anybody having these issues aswell?

Best regards

Martin

Spotify Connect does not work in Multiroom setup. Its a license thing between Spotyfy and B&O.

How come it worked a month ago seemlessly, and know i have to do some workarounds, but can still get it to work.

When i get it to work, spotify connect shows the two speakers as linked

furthermore this whitepaper

https://www.flatpanelshd.com/downloads/BeoLinkMultiroomWhitePaper.pdf

says that as long as the two multiroom units are both equipped with Spotify Connect it should be possible to play on multiple units.

Sorry, I was unaware of that possibility for Spotify Connect.

In my experience the only way to do this, is to use the Google Home app in order to create a group of two (or more) Spotify Connect capable speaker systems. These can then be choosen in the Spotify app.

I did not find a way to distribute the sound - over NL -  like you can with TuneIn, Deezer and line-in connected devices.

But I certainly would be interested to hear, if it can be done...and how.

There is a tv - and there is a BV

@MM

a month ago it worked without issues to get spotify connect to group my A6 and A9 when playing from one unit and pressing play on the other unit. It's like there has been an update for the A9 and A6 that has corrupted this feature

Hi,

I think I have posted about this being available before.

Works fine for me, always has. Just tested and still working with my a6 and essence 2.

Not sure what to suggest, if it's working for other sources and just not Spotify. I've not had that before.

At the bottom of the Spotify app it shows the two devices playing, using connect.

Just a though...

Google cast support was recently added to many of the multiroom products, so now when you tap 'devices available' within the spotify app, it is possible to use either 'spotify connect' or 'google cast' to send your music to the product. Make sure you're still using spotify connect otherwise behaviour is likely to be different to what you are used to.

Martin.

Hey, have you check your Spotify connect is prefectly settled down? If yes, you can try to convert Spotify to MP3 with TuneFab Spotify Music Converter so that you can enjoy Spotify on multiroom.

Tested on Sonos as well - same "issue". As this is a limitation by sw demanded by Spotify for anyone with a license, there are often ways to work around it - the blocking is not bullet proof. I know the "master" was the limiting part some time ago, and you could cheat the system by starting Spotify in a "link" room, then join the master followed by any other "link" product - but once these tricks get out, I guess B&O will have to act?

I understand why Spotify limit streaming to one device at a time, but it is rather annoying - I have Spotify in one of our cars (OEM), and even with family accounts it tends to mess up where it will send the music: If I get out of the car and later access Spotify on my phone (same account), it will always ask if I will continue playback in the (locked and turned off) car or on the phone - but not the other way around. My wife sticks to DAB radioBig Smile

And if you license Spotify Connect to a product it seems as if the license is only valid for 5 years. After that period Spotify Connect will be disabled. Chromecast is not a favorite of mine, but I'm sure they will out maneuver Spotify Connect unless Spotify changes their policy.
