Hi
I have both masterlink and netlink in house, and the question is should i buy a used blink converter NL/ML to connect them or buy new NL products.
My setup is: Livingroom Beovison 11-46 with beolab 4000 connected. Second livingroom beosound 2300 with beoplay S3 connected. Kitchen Beoplay A6, Barthroom Beolab 2000 connected to Beosound 4 in the office via masterlink. I want to have the same possibilities in the bathroom as in the kitchen, and also connection the beosound 2300 to the NL, is that possible withe the converter?
The alternative is to buy new A6 or the new M5 to the bathroom, and later a A9 in the second livingroom.

Hi,
the setup of the BL/NL is simple.
I needed only a few minutes to get it working. Finetuning takes longer and I discovered bugs as well.
The tabs are named (not exactly) 'What to see on NL' and 'What to see on ML' .
Non possible configurations are greyed out.
Since you have an audiomaster on your ML, the Beolink should be configured as Audio Source.
So you can hear TuneIn, Deezer etc. as N.MUSIC and N.RADIO on your Beosound 4 and Beloab 2000.
On your NL side you can hear any source from your Besound 4 that was shared A.MEM, Radio,CD.
That works fine and reliable. I have a similar configuration with M5 and A6 and Beosound 9000.
For the Beosound 2300 you will have to add an extra Beolink converter, because you can't have two audiomasters on your ML.
The Beosound 2300 cannot be in linkmode, Beosound 3000 SW 3.4 can.
Beoplay M5 is very bass heavy and may not sound very well in your bathroom, which is smaller I suppose and has heavy sound refelections (mirror etc.). But give it a try, M5 is a smart little box.
Beolink can provide the time for your ML. This is a goodie.

Hi Ralf
Will I get airplay in the bathroom, and the livingroom with the beovision 11, if I connect an airport express to the A.aux on the Beosound 4. Or should it be to the converter? Now the Beolab 2000 can´t activate the A.Aux on the Beosound4.
Mogens
Hi Mogens,
it schould work with the A6 and Beovison 11, i will look into the configuration and make a screenshot.
The A.AUX can be mapped to NL sources. This works.
A good question is what will the Beolab 2000 do.
What is possible is to connect the airport ( i have an chromecast audio) to the AUX (RCA inputs) on the Beolink ML/NL.
This then maps to N.RADIO or N.MUSIC. This is a working configuration.
I sold my Beolab 2000 from our kitchen last week but i can assure you, that this would work..
Did you have tried PHONO2 or A.TAPE2 to turn A.AUX on? I don't remember whether this works on Beolab 2000. On Beolink active it depends on software. The beolab 2000 has only 1.1 and that was never changed.
I come back soon with some screenshots.
Thanks for your help. If I set up the converter with a link eye in my small livingroom instead of the Beosound 2300, I would then have a complete NL product there? Right?
recently i posted some screenshots concerning the converter in this thread:

The BLC is not quite a complete NL product. You cannot stream Spotify to it, for example.

What is the "join"button on a ML produk/remote? Is that something that has to be assigned?
Stan: The BLC is not quite a complete NL product. You cannot stream Spotify to it, for example. Stan
But you could add an AirPlay capable device (e.g. a Playmaker) to the line-in of it.
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
Bundy: What is the "join"button on a ML produk/remote? Is that something that has to be assigned?
'a ML produk/remote' - I am sure that you mean in the list of the newer Beo4. There is no 'join' on or a ML product.
'Join' means that you - on the NL-device that gets this command - can listen to a source, that is active somewhere else on the NL-network.
One example - if a tv program is active in the livingroom, you can listen to the sound in the kitchen, when making coffee there ;-))
Do note: not all sources are 'join-able'.
Hi Millemissen
So if i hear TuneIn on my A6 in the kitchen I would not be able to join in on that on the Beolab 2000 in the bathroom with a BLC?
in my setting the TV button of the Beolab 2000 = TuneIn from the A6
@egges
That is a workaround - and a clever one
.....as long as you can remember that a 'TV' button triggers TuneIn!
in my understanding, dear MM, this is no workaround but a setting i did with my old Beo4 to be able to join my main music source on the A6 when sitting in my study at the computer. and that's the great thing with the converter. no matter whether there's TuneIn on the M5, my girlfriends cook show via Line In on the Essence or the news with the Avant: the Converter is able to join everything either with the App or the buttons I decide on the Beo4
I agree with you.
Never the less - the question was about the 'join' command?
to specify: my main joinable music source is TuneIn, mostly i stream via Airplay and there, of course, you can do the workaround with the Airport Express in one of the available Line In's
What happens with your BL2000, it you use the remote to send the 'join' command?
@MM: there's no "Join"-button on my Beo4, the IR-eye of the amplifier has a Timer- and a Playbutton and when pressing Play it joins e.g. TuneIn from the A6
Do mean that pushing the Play-button on the left side of the control-thing on the BL2000 would make it join-in to an ongoing event on the NL-network?
On both of my Beo4/Navi there is a 'Join' entry in the List - the BROne has it too.
Pushing this triggers the active NL. source on the adressed device.
@MM: yes, pushing the play-button on the Beolab 2000 joins one active NL-source. that's another reason why i laid TuneIn on the TV-button: i often joined the Line In of the Essence (i.e. TV my girlfriend was watching) instead of the music playing on the A6.
on my Beo4 no "join" appears switching the List button and my Beoremote 1 is exclusively for the Avant. the settings of the remotes is indeed another science!
Great to know that the BL2000 behaves this way!
As for the Join/Beo4 issue:
Do you have the Beo4 with navi?
If yes, did you try to add anything pushing 'red dot/list' -> 'Add' -> 'A/V'?
'Join' should be one of the 'hidden' entries there.
no, i've an older Beo4 with the GO-button. just checked: no "join" in the hidden entries there
I think there is the limitation, that pushing the Play button on the Beolab will only work, if there is no other audiomaster or videomaster else connected, just the BLC configured as videomaster.
I my setup i have an audiomaster Beosound 9000 and the BLC is configured as audiosource or videomaster.
In that case pushing the Play button turns on always the adio from the Beosound, although it played TuenIn before.
And if the Beosound is in standby and my A6 or M5 is playing TuneIn pushing the Play button does not join TuneIn, it turns on radio from the Beosound.
Audioslave will not solve the problem, the Beolab 2000 will always contact the audiomaster.
A workaround...working in some cases, then!
here again is my setup with the converter and the Beosound 3000. pushing the Play button joins an active NL-source
and here i did the settings for the TV button either on Beo4 and Beolab 2000. due to ML role CD and Radio button are fixed
egges:here again is my setup with the converter and the Beosound 3000. pushing the Play button joins an active NL source
StKong: I notice that in your picture it says join primary and secondary. What, then, s if you have many NL-sources?

those are the sources shown up in both the BeoMusic and BeoRemote app for the converter.
2 minutes ago i pushed the Play button of the BeoLab 2000 and it joined TuneIn playing on the BeoSound 35

i still love it so much. i bought it in 2001 first for the kitchen. since i moved ten years ago it's under the ceiling in a corner of the bath and it's a real beast. absolutely no need to replace it!!!
btw: later on in the morning i pushed its TV button and it dragged another station from A6's TuneIn, A6 remained silent. a long push on the button turned all devices off

egges setup does notwork for me.
The Beolab 2000 may work if connected to the ML/NL in V.Master Role
I have an Beosound 9000 that will not react to any V.Master commands like TV / DTV. May be in A.Option 2 it is possible
I my case i have configured the ML/NL as Audio Source, this will add 2 new sources to ML which i can select with Beolab 2000 and
BS 9000 as well. Even on my BV8 i can hear Deezer and TuenIn.
But anyhow the nescessary ML/NL setup depends much on what is connected to your ML.
In every case it is possible for you to hear and control Deezer or TuneIn in your bathroom.
I have an Beolab 2000 connected with Wireless1 on my terrace, so i can hear my favorite music during cleaning and mowing my garden.
I considered to change the 2000 to a 3500 which i have unused in my cellar.
Ralf:I my case i have configured the ML/NL as Audio Source
it seems to me option Audio Source is questionable.
Carolpa: Ralf:I my case i have configured the ML/NL as Audio SourceDo you have a NL tv? Do you have speakers connected to the BS9000? Which NL device(s) do you have? it seems to me option Audio Source is questionable.
Here are my answers:
No NL TV yet, but 2 ML Beovisions, one configured with Option 2 one with 5 (other room)
Beolab 8000 connected to BS 9000
I have 2x Beoplay A6, M5 and Beosound 1.
I can listen to CD, AUX and TV on A6 , M5 ansd BS1 on NL
and to Deezer, TuneIn on my BS9000 and Beovisions.
Hi Ralf,
Do you mean configured as "Source Centre"? (which would be correct for your setup)
Ralf: No NL TV yet, but 2 ML Beovisions, one configured with Option 2 one with 5 (other room) Beolab 8000 connected to BS 9000
I presume from what you have said above, and in your previous post, that the main room BeoVision and the BS9000 are in different rooms - if so they should both be configured as option 2.
Martin.
Yes Source Center.
Option 2 is correct.
The second Beovision is connected with Wireless 1 to the BS9000.
This is a Beovision 8 with no built in clock, so i had a clock issue every time i switched it on the Beosound 9000 clock was set to 00:00.
Beo support told me, that this will not work, but now the Beovison 8 is configured with V.OPTION 5 or 6 and the Beolink BL/ML delivers the time for the ML. Never had an clock issue again.
On the older Beo4 the command CD2 is the same as JOIN on the new ones.

Thanks - I did not know that.
