Beocenter 9000 speaker query

Hi I've got a Beocenter 9000 with a pair of RL60. 2's I also have a Cona Sub.  Should there be a significant increase in the bass frequency or not. I have it wired up correctly with good quality cable.  Thanks. Phil. 

I too ran a cona to my RL60.2s, there was not as significant of a change as when adding the cona to cx1000s with the bc9000. The cona added to the RL 60.2 is only mildly noticeable IMHO.

I was a bit disappointed.  I wonder if there is any way of lowering the frequency by altering the crossover?

I don't think it would do much good. The major problem is that the Cona simply won't reach that much lower than the 60.2's already do by themselves. Altering the crossover would probably just mess up the frequency response and wouldn't add anything you couldn't do with the bass setting of your source.

Ok thanks what about changing the speaker. . I think it is an 8"  20cm unit.

Are you thinking of swapping the driver out of the cona or using a powered subwoofer? The driver in the cona is kind of a special dual voice coil, a replacement wouldn't help what you're after. If want a deep rumble you can feel in your aorta I ran a set of Beoplay S8s off the preamp rca's on my Beocenter 9000 but I would need to find every rattling item in my apartment (including my rattling sense of musical taste) if I wanted the bass cranked like that.

Yes that's what I'm after.... so you can hook up an active sub to the RCA ports? 

If it has a separate volume control, yes. The idea is to hook the sub to the preamp out of the Beocenter and then turn up the volume on the sub up slowly until you just start to notice the sub kicking in and then back the volume of the sub down a hair. That should bring it close to balanced with the RL's.

Yup. That way the passive speakers and powered sub can be volume regulated together once the initial setting of the sub volume is done.

Or in the case of the S8s the satellite speakers were also powered and centrally controlled from the sub, so there was no passive speakers to account for, so a volume control on the S8 powered speakers wasn't needed.
