After trying many bluetooth adapters/receivers, I really like the Audioengine B1.

and used it extensively with my Beocenter 9000 via a 5pin din to RCA from Steve at Sounds Heavenly.

Hi Peter

Just realised i cant spell....many thanks for the links

That looks a nice bit of kit...cheapest ive found so far is £139....

Ive bought leads from Steve before, he is a very nice and helpful guy.

Its not my main stereo set up, but i have it running through a pair of beolab penta mk3

They are just suberb, so like to make the most of it.

Cheers

Gary

£139, if google exchange rate is accurate, sounds about right. They don't really seem to show up used for sale often or on sale.

I think the quality DAC in the B1 is a nice feature for using digital on a system like this. I was convinced at first that music from my iPhone sounded better and fuller via this receiver than just hard wired into the aux without an external DAC on the Beocenter 9000.

My setup varied with the BC9000, I ran it with RL 140s, CX100s/cona, M70s, and Beoplay S8. Would love to try it with some pentas someday, though.

I looked at these options - but went the route of a cheap ( Tesco Hudl2) android tablet for the job, running spotify and digital radio feeds via the Aux.  Sounds great, easy to use, well under £100uk all in.

Hi

I much prefer Google Audio Chromecast to bluetooth - they say the sound is better (I can't tell - ears getting old) but it's more stable than bluetooth.

And they're only £20 from Currys / PC World at the moment!  You will also need an adaptor to convert the mini jack plug into a DIN plug like this one

Keep in mind that most times you will need the paid services to be able to use Chromecast Audio - but at that price, I'd get one anyway.

I'm a freeloader, so for the little Spotify use I have, I usually AirPlay to the Chromecast that is connected to my TV and from there to the Beosystem Big Smile

Thanks Gary and Peter (sorry for not seeing this thread sooner!)

I would agree that Google Chromecast Audio (or Apple Airport Express if you use Apple devices) will out perform bluetooth, both for range and sound quality.  I haven't yet found any way to change the text on the Penta displays - if you find a way, please let me know!

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.

Hi Gary,

Saw that you have the same wish as I have to update the display on the pentas.

I think I saw that a German member have succeeded to update the prom so that the display could show more up to date information. I can not remember who it was but it seems possible.

Regarding your Bluetooth connection question I will order this Bluetooth product from Loudlink, that one have full datalink support so that you can control the Bluetooth source from the BC9000 or from a link room, also it automatically switch source on your BC9000 or turn it on when you start to stream to it. You can also rename the Bluetooth name so it show what you want.
