I'm in the middle of trying to look at an old Onkyo tuner (T-9) which displays the same symptom. First thing you have to determine is whether of not the FM radio is actually giving you stereo, not that easy with a lot of the over processed crap you find on FM these days. The problem could be either the stereo light is burned out, or there's something wrong with the FM decoder circuitry.

Tune to a strong station and listen using headphones, you should be able to tell quickly, mono on headphones sounds like its in the center of your head. If the receiver has a stereo/mono switch, switch it in and out and listen for stereo.

Once you  troubleshoot it a bit further someone who knows this unit shouldbe able to help you more.

Jeff

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus. Sad

Hi Jeff,

I did the Stereo/Mono test with headphones on and all works well, It's just the light that's out.

So i need to know  what LED, and how to change it?

Keith.

Hi Martin,
I have the BEOMASTER 1700 (1973 Model) Black front and Teak top/sides.
Amp/Tuner are separate.

Those are not LEDs but real miniature bulbs in sockets.
Different wattage lamps are used for the red tuning discriminators and the green stereo indicator.
I have the correct ones if you can't find them elsewhere.

Hi Martin,

I have just got the buld out, if you do have a spare buld let me know what the cost plus P&P will be.

On the bulb it says OSRAM 12-15/1.
