Hi all,
Today we have updated the iOS app in the app store. The app have received a lot of polish and couple of new features. So here is a couple of words on that:
The app is still very new and bit rough around edges, our next release is planned for April so stay tuned.
Thanks
Thomas Andersen, Bang & Olufsen
PS. The updated Android app will hit the Play store tomorrow, we will keep them in sync from now on.
No support for Horizon TV?
Hi PK
We're working on it, app support is almost there. We're waiting for the next Horizon software release before we can release it.
BeoNut since '75
So it is for the Android app.
Thank you, this is a big step forward.

Fansastic:is it only me that likes the multiroom tiles in the beosound more then the X app methode?
No!
I actually like the multiroom tiles - since they made it possible to access that area in vertical mode too, I find it usefull.
I see no need for the new app right now.
I don't use Deezer, so not really much use for that app.
Let's see how it develops.
P.S And on an iPad it looks like a childrens book ;-(

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Hi peterafox
Same story as for the Horizon, they share the same engine. We're wating for a new software for it before we can open up for support.
Thomas
I have not got any updates to the Android app in the Play store - is it globally available?
Hi Thomas
In general, I like the new APP better than Beomusic and it works overall faster and better
I do not know if you already have seen this post, as I did sent this in another forum.
I have one issue showing up yesterday, I play some music from RadioTunes on the TuneIn "radio" by adding the link in the wen setup. This has worked well and still works.
But, the new B&O app can not handle this radio station.
When I try to select this radio station nothing happens - but works well on the Moment or Essence if I use the local control, so the app seems like not knowing this way of setup
Looking forward to have this solved in a coming release
BR Rudi
Hi
I also just received the iOS app update.
Does anybody know why only new B&O Multiroom products are recognized? The app does only see my BeoSound 2, A6 and M5.
Unfortunately the ML/NL Converter does not show up.
Hope this will be added as well, otherwise the new app is not really useful to me...
cheers
Marc
@Rudi sounds like a bug. It would be great if you could submit it using the feedback option in the menu. Then we have the logs and will fix it.
@buesch The BLC converter is on our roadmap and will be supported. We're taking the legacy products one at a time
hey MrAndersen
thanks for your prompt reply. That sounds great! Looking forward to it!
btw: the new App "feels" much more mature and is easier to use. Great work!
How about DLNA? the reason to use Beomusic until now - or did I miss something
Carolpa: How about DLNA? the reason to use Beomusic until now - or did I miss something
I think someone mentioned earlier in this or another similar thread about this app that DLNA will be added to the app at a later date. Until that's added, I personally have no use for this app as I can't access any music on my server to play from it!
MrAndersen: Hi all, Today we have updated the iOS app in the app store. The app have received a lot of polish and couple of new features. So here is a couple of words on that: We have improved the transitions between the different views to be more fluent, especially regarding the header. The player drawer (our internal name for the small grey bar in the bottom) has been refactored to have information on the selected product. That means no more snackbar messages on disconnected products All standby has been added We have added simple TV support for BeoVision 11, BeoVision Avant, BeoPlay V1 and BeoSystem 4. This first implementation is very slim and only supports volume, channels, sources and expand. We do NOT support "wake on lan" and "my buttons" yet. Our TV support will evolve over time and this is the first step. Expand has been redesigned to have a more clear separation between selecting a product and expanding to another product. The app is still very new and bit rough around edges, our next release is planned for April so stay tuned. Thanks Thomas Andersen, Bang & Olufsen PS. The updated Android app will hit the Play store tomorrow, we will keep them in sync from now on.
Hi Thomas..
The App is getting better and better, but one thing I have noticed is, that if I start playing an album from my Moment, the artist image is shown on the Moment's "now playing", but in the App, neither the cover or artist image is shown.
If I start the exact same album from the App, the album cover is shown in the app, AND on the Moment the artist is shown.
/Jacob
@sal we are working on DLNA now, the wait won't be long
@weebyx we have seen some strangeness with the moment in the past. It's notifications of the playing state are slightly different than with the other products. The scenario you are describing sounds like a way to reproduce this, perhaps they are different when the playback is started from the Moment. I will make a bug on this and we will look into it. Thanks for the feedback! Much appeciated.
The apps appearance is very much positive evolving on Android also.
But still the queue is mixed up with unknown radio stations after using this app with the Essence or activating some multiroom products together with the Essence.
The queue list gets mixed up in using another NL capable device. A next activation of the Essence from standby with a remote gives you suddenly not the last listened radio station but an unknown one.
I found this by activating the Essence with IR-eye and remote. You get all kinds of unknown radio stations behind the numeric buttons, and your TuneIn favorite list is now nested somewhere deep in the queue.
The only way to get the correct sorting order of radio stations and the queue list filled correctly again is in using the old beomusic app on iOS or Android.
Deleting the queue on the new app and starting a favorite radiostation, gives you only this radio station now playing in the queue. Starting a radio station from the old Beomusic app gives you immediate all your favorite radio stations as a list again in the queue.
Its a complete new approach, the old app keeps your favorite list locked, no matter if you choose a new radio station for occasional listening or want to operate the device by remote. In using the new app you use also the favorite list, but not if you want to operate your device by a remote, then you activate your chosen radio station from the queue list. And hopefully its not filled with unknown radio stations.
Strangely, in using the new app with the Moment none of this happened, its functioning perfectly.
This problem is of no importance if you always using the app as a control, but its very much irritating if you are using the Essence with a IR-eye.
Hi Chris
We have a couple of bugs on this already. We implemented the favorite radio stations as normal radio stations, not realizing they needed "special treatment". We plan to fix this in the next release and i will add your description to the existing case. Thanks for taking the time to describe it in detail.
@weebyx i just investigated error you reported with the Moment and it is fixed and should be out in the next release as well
Hi Tom
I wanted to let you know that your fast responses (both in terms of developing the app and in participating in this forum) are very much appreciated. This gives me a lot of confidence that the new app will become a fully functional and very attractive tool to use (which it already is today to a great extend!).
I had a similar experience with strange TuneIn behaviour when using the app for an Essence with a V1 in multiroom setup. When switching back from Deezer to Radio, TuneIn starts a radio station which is not part of my favorites. Just to add that contrary to the experiences of Chris, this behaviour is not related to the use of a remote and IR eye. Just to add that the TuneIn station is always the same one. I already gave this feedback through the app, but just wanted to give some more background info triggered by Chris's post.
looking forward to the next releases,
Jan

That is fantastic :) Thanx..
One more question, not actually regarding this app, but about the BeoSetup(which is also embedded in the X app).
Are there any plans on actually making the setup of products, for instance the A6, into a "real" app, and not just the weird HTML like interface that is the Setup App now ?
I find it very very slow and annoying to use the BeoSetup app, especially the sound settings with sliders. More than half the times, you tend to select some text instead.
I am wondering how the setup actually works for each product, and I suspect that they each has an embedded server, that serves the contents shown in a webcontroller of the app's ? Is that correct(or a secret ;) ) ?
The BeoPlay app does not support my newly bought A6, and settings timers and alarms in the BeoSetup is just annoying, however possible :)
/Weebyx
@MartinRK: Yes we will support this, we just need to restructure the app a bit to able to handle the more limited feature set in a proper way
@Weebyx: The setup pages won't go away anytime soon, so many items in there. We will migrate more and more items to the X app. We have already moved the basic information to the settings pages MyProducts->Click a product. We plan to move network, sources and alarms. Perhaps this question should go to all of you guys. What items from BeoSetup would like us to move first?
I think i will make a new thread for this: http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/24972.aspx
Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2, BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century, BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i, BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40, BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)

Nice to see and read the progress on the app.
As an active participant on the Ubiquiti beta network forum, I can only say that this opportunity B&O gives us for some real input in the development of a new app, is of great benefit to the end user.
No matter how small the contribution is, it could make a big difference.
I can't figure out how to use it with my Beovision 11, Do I need a Bluetooth multiroom product before it works.
Søren
@Soren you should be able to expand your sound from your BV11 to any network connected speaker in your app. Works with BeoSound1+2+35, M5, A6, A9 and Moment. I f you have issues please send us a feedback from the app and we can try to help you out.
Beovision 11 is my only NL product, it is connected to a Beolab 2000 and Beolab 3500 through a NL/ML converter, isn't it possible to control BV11 and converter like when using the BeoRemote app
I don't know what is happening, but it seems that if I use the X app with TuneIn and my Moment, it causes the Moment to "crash" reagarding TuneIn.
What I do is selecting a radio station in the App, swipe or select another radio station, and doing this a few times and the Moment cannot use TuneIn anymore. I need to forget account on Moment, restart the Moment, and add TuneIn again.
And also, it seems that in the App, it is 100% random which radio station I get when swiping left or right, or using the next/rev buttons. I cannot seem to figure out what list I am going through. It doesn't matter if using the favourites or popular, swipe left/right just picks random until it crashes the Moment.
TuneIn had issues yesterday. Our integration tests failed and we had several tickets on the system being unreachable. Perhaps this is not handled gracefully by the Moment? I will forward this to the Moment team.
As for the swiping. We're working on a fix for the TuneIn favorites, this will be in the next release.
I posted this in the other thread about the X-app, but that thread seems to have died, so I'm trying again here. Sorry about the double post:
I feel stupid for asking, because this has to be just me who is missing something... but what is the thing with the order of the albums in the Music section?
Seven of my favourite albums are shown on the index page, as my "favourite albums", but how does the app choose these? Doesn't seem to be either the albums I favourited last, or the albums I've listened to most.
If I press the three dots in the lower right tile I get a list of all my albums. But again, how are they sorted? Doesn't seem to be neither alfabetically by artist or album name. Or chronologically, neither by date added or release date. Is there somewhere I can choose how they are sorted? A setting that I've missed?
Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this. The new app is getting better, but I have actually found myself using the BeoMusic App still, because of this.

Hi Henrik
Sorry, I must have missed your post in the other thread. We have today just reversed the sorting, not the last favorites you added will be in the the top. We're working an additional ways of making finding your favorites easier. The solution I'm leaning towards is where you pull down and get a input field where you can filter by freetext. This would be in the long list, the one opened when you click the three dots. Would that work for you?
Thomas, Bang & Olufsen
No stress, it's not like you're obliged to answer the post anyway. ;-) But thanks for answering so soon now!
Ah, I didn't realise that the albums were reverse-sorted by date added until now. The order seemed random to me, but that was because I never scrolled to the bottom.
Sounds great! How about a combined filter/sort-bar that you can pull down? That is, a small "sort by"-button next to the input field? The "sort by" button should let you choose between artists alphabetically, albums alphabetically, recently added or most listened to. Check the Deezer app for a comparison. Something like that would be fantastic. It would then be great if the app remembered you choice, so the next time you dived into your albums they were sorted the way you left them the last time.
The tiles on the front page should not change when you used the sort option in the sort/filter bar. Rather, you should be able to choose in the app settings which albums should be represented as "top albums" in those seven tiles. Three options to choose between could be "most recently added", "most listened to" or "user defined". That last option could let you manually define seven albums.
Would something like that be feasible? Have a nice weekend!
