I have an avant TV and I would like to buy a ultra HD blue ray player but the avant can only receive 8 bit transfer
where as players I have seen are 10 bit does any one know where I can get one please
is it worth it, given the Avant can't do HDR?
Those UHD Blu_rays discs are frightfully expensive still.....
I am not a techi but the avant as far as i know is 4K ultra HD
The better the source, the better the picture on any (almost any) tv.
As Sandyb wrote, the real thing is HDR, but the 4K makes sense too.
If you start investing in a UHD-BR player and UHD-discs now, you are prepared for the future.
And that player can play regular BRD's just like any regular player.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Thanks for all the help but although there are some good uhd b/r players out there they are 10 bit where as the avant is only 8 bit or is that the HDR part you are on about
rumours are that there will be a new screen coming out from LG which is OLG I think, got that info from beoworld
Just to your information, johncoomber:
There are several HDR standarts on the market today.
On the current UHD-discs/-players HDR10 is used.
The first discs with support for Dolby Vision (which is another of these) will soon be out - and the players must and will be updated with support for Dolby Vision.
In order to benefit from HDR - or rather from the different HDR formats - these must be supported by the displays/tv's.
To our luck - in the LG-displays, that will be used in the coming B&O/LG-tv's, all current formats are supported.
