BeoMusic app is merging with Bang & Olufsen app

Finally had a chance to really play in the new App, using DLNA (Twonky). The app was snappy and pretty smooth. I think with a robust DLNA search added, it could be what I think I've been looking for from B&O. I'm still hoping for a potential new music system (not the Moment, not Essence) with all these features, so I can have a dedicated unit rather than use my phone -- but I'm not holding my breath.

Hello I 'm wondering how and if vintage products are supported ? Besound 9000 over nl/ml converter???? Which I cannot add in the app .... regards

I'm using the 1.0 iPhone version that came out yesterday. Other than the strange playlist with radiostations in it, I really like it. 

But. I've found that suddenly after removing and adding radio favorites, the app plays random favorites with random icons. Not the station you select.

I've reported it via feedback in the app.

I saw the same behavior with the (previous) Android app (didn't tried with the new release). I believe this issue comes from the sync between the X app list and the TuneIn list.

If you have to modify your list, it's safer to do it from the TuneIn webpage.

Regarding TuneIn favorites: We are aware that there is a problem and are working on a fix. Since the product itself gets the favorite list from TuneIn they get out of sync. Two workarounds that might work:

 

  • Clear the playqueue and start the favorite
  • Restart the app, then we get the favorites from TuneIn again and they should be in sync

A quick comment to the work-arounds:

Clearing the queue may work. But still flaky. Could not repeat the test and get predictable behaviour.

Restarting the app did not work for me.

Just an update from using latest beta X app:

The problem where Apple Music (stream) pauses when opening the X app has been solved - thank you!

However, when I open the X app the volume in the zone where I'm sending the stream races to max and even when the volume is decreased it shoots back up until the x app is closed.

Should I log uploads somewhere?

Hi

I updated the app last night. I would love the app to have the ability to remove or add a selected few song to or from the queue. Right now you either renove/add one at a time or the entire queue/album.

Sounds like my BeoLab 20's "going mad" problem which Thomas and have discussed

I am experiencing some unexpected behaviour, however it is probably designed that way.

On iPhone, when the App is launched, that is, either I am using it, or it is in the background, then the volume buttons on the iPhone controls the sound of my selected B&O product.

This is all fine and well when I am using the App, but when the App is in the background, and I am for instance browsing Instagram, the App should keep it fingers of the response from the volume buttons. When I find a video I would like to see, and turn up the volume to see it on my phone, the volume of the A6 also shoots up. I need to kill the app, before I start watching videos on my phone to only have the phone respond to volume buttons.

This is how it should work.

1. X App is active = respond to volume buttons. 

2. X App is in background = keep hands off volume buttons.

When I have changed the volume on the phone with the app closed, and then open the app, the app also adjust the iPhone volume level, this also should NOT be done, the first interaction with the volume wheel should do this.

I know that the Now Playing screen is a cool feature, but there is to much overtaking of the phone from the App.

@Weebyx: This is a balance act and we will probably adjust it down the road. When the lock screen control is activated then we have the media session and also the buttons. We could make a similar option for the hardware buttons as we have for the lock screen. When disabled we never hook up the buttons, that might work.  When you start a video from the phone this should take over the media session and we should no longer listen to the hardware buttons. If this still turns up the volume on your product then it is a bug.

If the X App is launched but in background, and I use Instagram and control the volume, this also turns the volume of my A6 up/down. So I guess this is a bug ? Do you need some logs or anything from me ?

On iOS 1.0 release version.

I can confirm, that if you follow these steps:

Clear the queue, close the app, restart the app, and wait for 13-15 secs in my case

the Tunein favorites appear and play as expected.

@Sandyb: We will let users chose what folder to start from. So now it starts from the root, that is why it shows the folders you list. In your case you can chose the music folder and you would get the artist, album etc. at the top level. We cannot do it automatically since this might be in a different language or you might have renamed the folders to something else. This is completely customizable

Done... I have tried to write a way to reproduce it also, the forst time the app launches, volume buttons works as they should, the second time the app is active from background, and the put to background again, the buttons still control the sound of the selected device.

One other thing I've noted - which I'll monitor to confirm - my battery seems to be running down very quickly when X app open. I.e. Been in work all day today and x app open in background and now at 20%. I note that when I press volume for any other app volume is now going up on musi system - is this constant link draining the battery?

I just gave the new app a try. I am quite impressed. Much better than I'd anticipated. Great step forward and will even be even more once the missing feature will be added.

I am using the latest IOS (not beta), but ML/NL seems not supported yet at all. Is this still in beta? Any thoughts on my question below?

I slowly try to use the X app as main control app but still need the beomusic app to sort out some things.

I cannot activate my NL products when on wake up lan modus (and not in preset time frame for quick boot up). This can be done in the beomusic app and need to use that app to include the NL products in Multiroom play.

when a music session is already started on the Moment and I use x app to setup a multiroom play, the app does not show what music is playing (from Deezer). The beomusic app does show this perfectly.

Two minor but usefull issues I would like to see fixed in the x app. Thanks

@djfairley89: We have had a few reports of battery use, but cannot reproduce it here. Does the app stand out in the battery use list? Does it happen often?

@Fansastic: I have made a ticket for the Mement and meta data and will take a look at it

 

The ML/NL converter will be out in beta soon. Please let me know if you want to join the beta/testflight to try it out

Just to add to the conversation.....most if not all the time, when I open the X app, it does not show any current active experiences.....for example, when my moment is playing, if I open the X app, it will show Moment is unreachable on the bottom banner...the product menu will show it as in use, so there seems to be some disconnect occurring.....this seems less of an issue with my A9, but even here not always perfect....

thanks, i can wait a bit more. very curious though whether it will allow me to play from dlna directly to the converter? this would be a major breakthrough compared to the beomusic app.

Same here, the X App correctly displays what's being played on the Moment. What may happen is a small delay discovering / connecting to the Moment

I get a small delay with the app finding my A9, though sometimes it finds nothing....with my Moment it very rarely finds it at all (music started on the Moment jukebox).....

I started an radio session, I think that is an preset playlist from Deezer. No Tunein station.

Hi MrAndersen,

I've been testing DLNA for some time and the app crashes a lot... Already commented on the app... But the DLNA is a welcome addition, and the small gap between songs is already better than my BS5 Encore!

Now the request : Apple Announced yesterday that Apple Music API will be made available for the devs... So let's add this streaming service (and don't forget Qobuz)!

@mbee: We have an update in review that should take care of the crashes. Sorry about that. Regarding Apple Music, then yes we will be looking into it.

Just download the latest beta update (version 1.0.2.6846) which said supported new (by unnamed) products ... I hoped it might be the BLC NL/ML but seems not yet (or it cannot find mine) ...

I just spent 1 hour getting Deezer to play full length songs again on my M5.

What happened was. Suddenly songs played very short.

When I checked in the program, it said I was logged in. Apparently I was not, as Deezer wouldn't play songs to their full length any longer.

I logged out - logged in. No change in behaviour. Closed program, cleared playlist. Didn't help.

I kept repeating that and eventually, I got an (correct) error message saying - You are not logged in.

Then I strugled with the password pane. Copy-paste is broken. You cannot first copy-paste your email in, switch to a password-app, copy password, switch back to paste it in. If you do, your email you entered previously, will be blanked out.

I had to cancel. Start password pane again. Manually enter the email and then paste the password in - without switching apps in between.

Then it worked again.

I see this with my mkii essence and my bs35 and moment all need to switch off at mains and restart and it seems to be alright

I am having real issues with the latest release. Nearly every time I start the app after having been in the background, the volume button and the "..." button does not respond. I have to navigate to somewhere else in the app, and back to now playing, and it works again.

Anyone else has these issues ?
