Hi all,
I have a pair of Beovox Penta's which i picked up very very cheaply locally along with a Beomaster 5500 and CD5500.
There is foam rot on the surrounds of the mid range drivers. See attached photos.
Obviously i'd like to get the best out of the speakers but as the the foam doesn't appear to be that bad yet is it worth me trying to refoam? I am concerned about making it sound worse if i make a mess of the procedure.
Would it make a big enough difference to justify the cost and risk of doing it?

Hi, the first thing I did on my Pentas was re-foaming, it is a very easy procedure when you are patient and meticulous, I fitted them with rubber surrounds and the sound is obviously cleaner. There are several websites selling kits with rubber surrounds and glue, the only things you need (except for a glass that you can use to press evenly the surrounds after applying the glue).
Absolutely and definitely refoam. As they are they will just get worse.
Many years ago I did buy new mid speakers direct from Bang & Olufsen in Struer. But I dont think they still have the speakers for replacement. But take a look her:

The midrange is not the only problem. The crossover filters often also need replacement.
thanks everyone for the replies.
is there any guide on how to replace the crossover filters (and how would i know it this is also required?)
