Just had a brief look at the new Eclipse today (65"). I must say that this Beovision is true to the B&O design heritage! A bit unusual at first without an aluminum frame around the ultra thin display, but the proportions and the placement of the speaker plus the black glass under the speaker makes this balanced design both modern and timeless IMO. And I guess that hardly any other OLEDs on the market will match the sound quality from this set.

BV Eclipse 65, BV5, BS Core, BL5, BL8000, BS9000, Beolit 12, A1, A2, P2, H8, H9i, H7, E8

Now two days from release I wonder more about the specs than the design.

Powerlink? Or only WISA?
PUC control?
HDMI Matrix and room sharing HDMI-solution?
Movable stand?
Gamma correction?
And so on.

Does anybody know?

Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2,
BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century,
BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i,
BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40,
BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)

The stand rotates like the new avant and the motorised stand bracket is similar to the bv11

What B&O should do is work with LG toward a partnership where the physical format of LG TV panels slips into a B&O made motion stand+soundbar, with LG's connection box expanded and software enhanced for B&O use.

Then everybody wins!

It's no longer LG buyer vs. B&O buyer...it's both!

Isn't that more or less what they have done (or look to have done)?

No, what Barry wants is a 'B&O dockings station', where he can mount different LG tv's, and echange those along the way.

Isn't it, Barry?

That's an interesting question, because if B&O doesn't have a department for developing video solutions, will they keep the connectivity ? I really need my Beovision to connect to a HDMI switch (via PUC on my current BV) to switch between sources and use the sound processor with my videoprojector...

Also : will the P.Mute mode still be possible (again, when using a beamer)???

Well that would be an interesting idea if thats what he meant.

Whether they would want to be tied in to one hardware manufacturer (LG) is less clear, as they would need to be if the B&O docking part is not to become obsolete over time.

I guess my point was that the separation of and re-constituting of audio and video s effectively what they have done with the existing partnership. Moving one step further with the customer piecing it together at their whim is hard to conceive, despite its innate attraction.

Really hope people like the new TV offering all the same, and i suspect many will, but lets see.

Meanwhile i'll continue to work out if i can make some BL50's part of my life - proving difficult to forget how good they sounded

Yes! That's it!

Partner with LG for compatible form factor.

And perhaps optional trim in various finishes and materials

That would be an idea for a B&O Play product.

But certainly not for a genuine Bang & Olufsen product.

The speaker makes me think of a Besound Century with black fret (speaker only of course no cd part).

Screen + speaker fret is black on black no alu.

Floor stand looks like Bv11/14 but with the Avant gesture.

But sushhhh.

But the speaker is rectangular and angular like a Century, Beolab 2500 or Beocenter Av5. Not at all like a Beolab 7 form.

I really like the look of the LG 77...

Having a (not NG) Avant 85, it seems there is no 'upgrade' path...?

For B&O’s Press Event, under Live Stream it says “none”.

Do B&O normally live stream their press events at IFA?

10ish Smile

The press meating starts around 10h and last for a hour. Product reveals may be anytime between 10 and 11, but I assume the new products to be covered at the beginning (they usual do this).

But yes, there will be pictures at recordere, when available.

B&O have two pressmeetings arranged for wednesday at IFA. The one at 10h and then another one at 17h.

It seems that they have som sort of a social live event for the second one.

I´ve been window shopping tonight and saw the Eclipse. Seen from the front it´s basicly a huge piece of glass. The speaker slightly curves and is a little wider than the screen. You don´t notice any gap between the screen and speaker. It´s oled on metal. The backside reminds me of a slimmer BeoVision 6/7. Everything nicely hidden. And some alu on the back too. All in all it looks great. A true (Lewis) BeoVision.

Conclusion: the "guesswork" was pretty much identical to that photo.

I kind of like it. Still not convinced about the black area under the speaker though.
