Check out this installation video.. interesting how the LG panel simply slots in after the 'B&O' is assembled!

I do not think the price of the eclipse is that bad when you compare it to other offerings from B&O.

The 55' is (according to my dealer) EURO 9750 including the motorized stand and fabric speaker cover; that is about the same as a 55inch Avant and for it you get (supposedly, havent seen or heard it) better sound and picture. Of course compared to a system build from separates from other brands you can get the same quality in sound and picture but not in such a nice all in one package, especially if (like me) you want a good looking motorized stand. Open to suggestions I am not aware of. Like anyone else I would like it to be cheaper but given current options available it does not look to bad from where I am sitting and I am not sure you can blame B&O to base the price on the Eclipses' relative merit (instead of cost of production) to maximize profit.

As far as the design is concerned, I really did not like it when I saw the first pictures; it looked clumsy and made me laugh. Now that I have seen more pictures on the website and especially the video, I really start to like it. Certainly enough to check it out in the flesh.

LG WEBOS 3.5 too bad they did not reskin it, but this would no doubt  lead to bugs, maintenance issues etc, so overall not a bad decision. And if you really do not like it can't you just plug in an Apple TV and watch on demand TV / Netflix etc from there (that is what I currently do with my V1 and apart from additional set up I barely see menus.

So overall I am considering buying one when the speaker is as good as they claim it; I would ditch my speakers that are a bit too big and use it as the ultimate all in one.

I'm just nitpicking now, but instead of just having a picture of a BS9000 on the wall, that room should have actually had a real BS9000 on the wall, integrated with the entire system.

@moxxey

You mean they don't play better on an Avant, or Eclipse?? Same game on all BeoVisions?

Incredible, right? When I was at the dealer he insisted the "performance is better under 4K" and "you'll notice a difference". Nope. It appears to be the same game, played at the same level and result. I felt conned.

I am also leaning towards a purchase as an all-in-one Audio/Video center.

I need a bit of critical listening at my dealer before pulling the trigger.

I've been extremely happy with my LG B6 and B7 (this year's panels are indeed better, more so than I expected), and I'm sold on the looks of the Eclipse.

I just need to justify the price to myself, given that I already have the same picture quality and I could purchase a couple of BeoSound 35s or a BeoSound 35, BeoSound 2 and BeoSound 1 with the premium I'll be paying for the Eclipse.

I actually find it funny that my B7 has a slim metallic frame around the screen whereas the Eclipse does not. (And no, it is not plastic; it's cold and metallic to the touch).

The way I've set up the B7 and SH7 soundbar on a wall, with a wireless sub hidden in a corner behind a chair, there are no wires visible anywhere.

Sound? Not B&O, but very good for television and movies.

Picture? The same as Eclipse.

Music? I do love the BeoPlay A6 & A8. My music is on Spotify & Tidal.

Control? Everything connected to the TV is controlled with the LG MR16A magic remote (either HDMI-CEC or the IR Universal Control via IR repeater; all equipment hidden in cabinets).

Experience? Pure, consistent LG WebOS & on-screen control for Apple TV and Blu-ray when needed, with the "magic" pointer (so convenient).

Price? Less than €3.000, all included (not counting A6 and A8). For approx. +€7.000 extra, I can have the Eclipse on a floor stand.

Hard decision.

Avant is 10.360 € in France with floor stand and remote (10.400 € for Eclipse). It as a bigger better finished foot, curtains, contrast screen with anti reflections, 480 watts 9 speakers system (450 / 6 for the Eclipse) with magical move and some B&O menus and video trickery.

That was a good deal I believe not the Eclipse. Of course with UHD content Oled picture will be better but on everyday use it won't.

I'm using my Avant happily and feeling like why should I change? Well, some bugs that B&O has to solve (warranty still valid for several more years). But all in all it's very good.

Great build quality, feels solid. Great screen. Quite good even in dark room but of course not as oled. But a premium Panel and I love it. The sound is great. Two way right left, theee way center and a subwoofer. (Eclipse has just full range speakers on the right and left channels).

Eclipse can't adapt to room color temperature - something the Avant does and that iPad Pro now do too. A great feature.

I'm happy I don't feel the need to replace it. Was worried about that before the eclipse came out.

I have always loved the contrast screen on B&O TVs (although quite cumbersome to clean properly ;-) ). Also, I love the speaker trick of the Avant. What I heard so far is that regardless of specs sound and picture of the Eclipse are better than anything  B&O has released so far. If his is indeed  the case and how much better compared to what I currently have or compared to other models and if it is worth the change I am going to find out at the dealer.........

I bought a year ago the Avant 85"and I am very pleased with it, best choice for now specialy in the big screens.

Before this I have the BV55-4 and later the BV65-4 then I changed to the LG 84LM960V and in the first I was happy with it but after seeing the Avan 85" I was sold. For me the LG was disapointed...

afternoon sir, and apologies again for interrupting your try out session in Islington yesterday, but good to meet you!

I'm much happier with the Avant MK 1 than the BV14. The older panel is better and more even picture wise than the newer ones on the 14 + Horizon.

I still wouldn't have an LED/LCD as my main screen, as they can't handle dark scenes that well. Was watching Twin Peaks (plenty of dark scenes!) yesterday on both the Avant and my 12-65, big difference. But overall, much happier PQ wise with the Avant Mk 1 than the 14. And as for Android - get that away from me stat.

By the end of the 90 minutes or so there yesterday, i did end up thinking the Eclipse (aluminium) looked pretty cool, slightly odd, but cool.

And it is full 4K, so if HDR discs etc are in your future, then go for it - they'll look fab.

Good luck either way.

Hello mate. Was great to have you there. I was just very hungover after a 2 day wedding so not on form!!

I'm so confused as do love the look of the Eclipse but I think the messy modular software setup REALLY lets it down.

I'm mainly a streaming chap so don't use discs so perhaps a 4K Avant would be ok for me. Although I don't like the idea of buying a panel that's a few years old. Streaming will catch-up quality wise to some extent as well!

So torn! To be honest I can see me going for the new TV. I'll have to just not moan about the software constantly!

I did see that the ability to rename sources etc that we were so desperately searching for is mentioned in the online instructions and it also says this should update the lists on the remote. So hopefully that'll be there in an update very soon...

Morning.

Ultimately the main thing with the software is that it will be stable (i.e. not Android) - that's a big difference with the 14.

And secondly, as opposed to the initial 14 release, most of the functionality is there - multi-room is there, albeit through the app.

So i don't think we're in 14 + Android territory when thinking about first release.

Much as i'd love a re-skinned GUI, making it a more elegant hybrid B&O / LG experience, that's unlikely, although possible to a limited degree.  And as you say, the remote list management will get sorted. They need to sort out playing of FLAC files as well - not sure if that matters straight away to you, but it will for some.

So while there's a slightly odd feeling with its hybrid nature, i think we'll get over that in time. And if we want a modern properly smart TV, which this is app and flexibility wise, webOS is probably the best out there, for all its bright and spangly nature.

I'm pretty sure most of us will be pretty happy with one in the end - as for price, well i've thrown money at cars and watches before, so who am i to talk...

Very valid Sandy.

A stable OS is the most important - remember reading when people had their 14 and it would crash.

I really wanted a BV 14 and I had a door moved in readiness to have a 14 on my wall where the Avant is.  I never purchased one although i really wanted to but couldnt bring myself to how unstable it was.

That and that it was 2K when everything is now 4K.

I wonder if they can take Android off those TVs and move them back to a diffferent oS?

Can't wait to see the Eclipse.

What do people think of the name?  I wonder if they toyed with Beovision Sonic

Why? My BV12-65 is quite old now but the picture is stunning. My BV11-40 is relatively new (in comparison) and the BV12-65 has a much better, smoother and richer image. I don't think, necessarily, a "new panel" always equals better image. Is the Avant showing HD better than the BV7-55 MKII, for example?

OLED aside, advances in panel improvement stagnated a few years ago in my opinion.

I went to the local B&O again today, and they thought that there could be an issue with connecting BS9k via Masterlink-RJ45 converter to the Eclipse...

Anyone how knows if the Eclipse can control the BS9000?

I know nothing specific of the Eclipse, but I would assume it requires a BeoLink ML/NL Converter (BLC) like every other NL device needs to work with ML devices.

Have you noticed that the holes at the top are smaller than the ones at the bottom?

Is it just the picture, or is it really like this? Any possible reason?

It's really like this. According to one of the recent articles it's done in order to improve airflow to optimise the bass.

The five stages of getting a fresh-launched new B&O flagship product:

- Denial: I don't need one, this cannot be what we have waited for! It is not what I expected. I cannot believe they came up with such a product.

- Anger: What has happened to B&O! They have lost their core! Everything was better in the David Lewis era! B&O management has lost it!

- Bargaining: Well, you do get the best picture & sound in a well-designed product. Separates from other manufacturers would cost a lot less, but B&O has it all in a nice pretty package. And there's multiroom, and the beautiful BeoRemote. I am sure my dealer makes a good offer (a little something off the list price will be good). Having a few drinks while thinking it over.

- Depression: Your bank account takes a hit :(

- Acceptance: Boy am I lucky I got one. Such a joy to behold, on and off. It is special, like no one else. Raving on BeoWorld how magnificent it is. That picture! The sound! How great it actually looks. Admitting the early criticism was way too harsh. BeoVision 10 / 11 were love at first sight, but I'm sure we'll get along just fine together. My Eclipse!

Okay my intial thoughts on my visit to a store today. it does look better than the pictures but i'm still... it's an lg tv with b&0 sound.

I can't help but think anti reflective contrast screen visionclear processing discreeter design but hey it's here now what can you do??

the picture to me is ok doesn't have that b&0 touch but it being oled amazing rich blacks good colours etc... The sound quality wow very rich and clear punchy, but i would like a bit more bass but thats just me.

In summary though i would if it was me buying an oled get the loewe bild 4 which is £2990 and pair it with some beolabs via the digital audiolink input. the picture quality from the loewe far exceeds the lg/eclipse in picture processing, in motion clarity and sharpness.

And i love the simple minimalist GUI too on the Loewe, on the eclipse it is clunky and disjointed.

Again just expressing my opinions others may like what they see.

Good news indeed, for the design and for the few hundreds €/$/£ shaved from the Eclipse price.

On a side note, I wonder if the Eclipse will work with the Beoremote App. On the traditional Beovisions, the app communicates bi-directionally with the TV. The way the eclipse has been assembled, I guess the app will only be able to get info from the B&O hardware, not the LG.

Since I understand the TV tuner is part of the LG panel, we will probably be able to tune to Channel 100 (the soundcenter will use CEC), but the app won't be able to display which channel it is. Not a deal breaker... but another little detail gone.

Im hopeing the price of the easel stand or brackets is more palatable than the b & o offerings as i think The price is a bit OMG

I like what i see in the Eclipse sofar and looking forward to seeing it real life its just those stand prices That make the tv over expensive as £800 to £1,000 would seem ok.

I know people are saying the eclipse is expensive,I think thats due to the over priced stands....

My Eclipse!

I forgot to mention that the sound was excellent and the visuals were also

Good to see that STB brackets has a solution for my Foxtel box and games console.

The things I liked:

> Design was paletteable, and the BV14 and Avant are still nicer, but this is more avant-garde than "pretty" designer

> Visuals

> Sound

> Swapping sources was snappy

> Turned on quick enough, compared to the Avant

> floor stand was smaller

> full NL control

> good speaker for my room as i wouldn't need (nor can i fit) additional speakers at the front

Things I didn't:

> App Gallery was messy, compared to what I'm used to

> Price, but what i calculate, it is about $3000 premium to have B&O - is that worth it for the integration and ease of use with your speakers, etc, multi room and so on

> To operate the stand you go list > stand > manual control. Was better before you go List > Stand and you can use the control

> They could have made the remote bit a bit bigger and allow for more my buttons

> When you manually controlled the screen it jiggled and then moved

Questions:

> Would you use the App Gallery if you have an Apple TV?

> Why is it so expensive?

> Is it more expensive today than it was say in 2010 when a BV7 55 was $33,500 Aussie dollars plus stand - in which the BL 7.2 and 7.4 were $5,875. Granted those days are gone and I'm not talking about which is considered a better product.

> Will the BV 14 be updated with an OLED? If it was, I'm sure more people would buy that

I wrote in another thread or earlier here that when would i go in to the App Gallery - and i realise now that i would have to go there for the settings if i wanted to change the settings of a speaker group etc.
