vikinger:I have just received a dealer brochure for the Eclipse (and BL50s). Interestingly, and to correct one of my previous observations, the TV does appear to have a motorised wall hinge option, with the hinge hidden at the end of the sound bar so that the whole TV seems to float away from the wall. Presumably this has become possible due to the very low weight of the screen compared to, for example, the BV11, where a huge hinge is needed the same height of the TV, with multiple anchors into the wall. New catalogues/print media from B&O.
Going to be interesting to see how many LG panels get shipped if a 2nd Korean War breaks out.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
andy_js:Technically the first war hasn't ended.
True that, it was an armistice only. This whole brouhaha has the potential to really highlight the potential shortcomings of outsourcing production to China and other Asian nations.
So I guess a fair few of us have now seen the Eclipse with the majority of first impression opinions being shared. In addition to comments on the B&O Facebook page and some other reviewers, where does this now leave us? Is the product going to be a worthwhile successor to the Avant?
Some dealers are saying they have sold sets already, indeed the one I was in yesterday said they had sold 3, one 55" and two 65" models. Has anyone made a firm decision to buy one yet from this forum?
Sandy is/was toying with the idea I think, KMA also. As for me, if it were cheaper I might consider it further although the design doesn't really appeal, but I cannot justify the price for the product, which leaves me looking at other models in the range if I stay with B&O as a brand. If not, then chances are it will be the A1 from Sony.
So, any confirmed interest from you guys?
B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.
BAND'OH!:So, any confirmed interest from you guys?
I am confirming my lack of interest in Eclipse. I have actually moved forward on buying Loewe Bild 7 (65) and importing into USA from UK. Just awaiting final quotes on the set and shipping.
Eclipse has no price justification fro me and I prefer the Loewe design / style / menu versus the LG menu / Speaker design (vis-a-vis display)
Ah yes svinaik, I am also seriously considering the Bild 7 55" as well. It does seem very impressive although some reviews I've read said that the English translations of the menus aren't very good! Also that the text overlaps onto several lines. I need to see a set to experience this as so far I have only seen photos and read reviews. But I agree that it is a much nicer presentation than the Eclipse, at least to my eyes. Looks like much more thought and effort has gone into the product. I shall be very interested to see how you get on with it :)

And would you consider the Bild 7 or Sony A1 also Mikipedia or you want to stay loyal to B&O? I too looked at the Avant again, and keeping looking at it, but I am just not sure about edge lit tv for a premium price. Maybe the 75 or 85 and they both have backlight dimming, but I can't find out how many zones and if as good (or better) than the 512 that were on the BV7-55 as I remember? Anyone know the specs?

Look at the picture and decide for yourself, don't worry about obscure specs - the headline numbers are not usually what makes for a good picture anyway. Pick your own TV, don't let others pick it for you, after all it's you who will be watching it not them.
Ban boring signatures!
I love it and the picture/sound quality is way better than my Avant 55. I have ordered the 65 which will replace the 55 and it will sit between the beolab 90. Can't wait!! All going well I should have it at the house around early October.

Was that Bild 5 with or without the sound bar ? As it is optional on Bild 5 . I am considering Bild 7 which comes standard with 120 W soundbar . Not as powerful as Eclipse but I have BL50 to give company . If you again get a chance , can you please check out the Bild 7 also . I am in the USA and have no access to Loewe here but I am still leaning very strongly towards Bild 7 . I am awaiting a quote .
Chris Townsend:It was a 7 and with a speaker. I'll have the 5s so an 80 watt centre channel is no big deal. Sound modes easy to use i.e. Voice for the centre. You'll have problems getting one before xmas, as the dealer today has already sold out for months.

Thank you Chris. This is very helpful. Did you see the motorized sound bar function ? and the motorized stand ?. Did it look the parts for the list price?
Sincerely appreciate as I am collecting the feedback before I pull the trigger. Hopefully, I should have the quote from Loewe Uk tomorrow.
Regarding waiting for the Xmas, actually it is good news that Bild 7 is being received well. I can wait for a good thing as I was waiting for the past 2 years for B&O to bring the HDR and after seeing the Eclipse, I can easily wait for few more months for Loewe.
Thanks for the replies.
@Puncher... I agree with your comments but as well as what appeals to my own eyes I also like to understand and know the specification I am buying as that helps me make an informed decision if my money is well spent or I am being taken for a ride.
@Mikipedia... Glad to hear you like the Bild 7 as this is a serious contender for me. I guess if it were between this and a 2014 Avant Mk1 its got to be the Bild 7 really hasn't it? Be mad not to for the same price but completely newer technology. If the Avant 55 was backlit instead of edge lit there would be no debate, but it's not.
I now need to find someone in my locality that can demonstrate the Loewe.
Mikipedia:Iam also thinking of ordering the bl50's. Iam also wondering what to do for rears, if at all. I feel that for surround BV's work better than any other sollution. Iam more set on the bl50's than the tv, i wonder with two bl50's if rears are needed?
Hi Mikipedia, We seem to be somewhat similar in how we are approaching the situation. I have already ordered the BL 50 as that was a no brainer for me. I personally am more of 2 channel / 2+ Center channel person now and got away from 5 / 7 channel setup a while back. There was a time when I was nuts on multi channel surround (Had Bryston / Theils / Marantz / Lexicon running the set up) and what not but just got too tired of all the stuff. My transition happened with move to BV 9 & BL5. Since then, I am at my happiest with just a TV and 2 BL speakers (replacing the BL 5 with BL 50 and BL 5 will go to my son). Frankly, I do not know what I may be missing by not having the surround set up but I just enjoy the simple 2 channel set up (with TV speaker, it becomes 3 channels).
This is also big reason for me not to get too carried away with B&O Integration stuff via Eclipse as it does not matter to me. For the TV, I am looking more for minimalist design, quality build and somewhat non LG feel and that is where the Loewe comes in.
Appreciate your comments and feedback on Loewe. It all seems to be coming together for me and I hope that you also find your setup soon.
BAND'OH!:I guess if it were between this and a 2014 Avant Mk1 its got to be the Bild 7 really hasn't it?
Hi Band'OH
on that point, I have no disconnect in my mind that OLED is the technology to have. BTW, B&O has announced that BV 14 (40 and 55 inch) are also being discontinued while the Avant 55 & 75 were already finished, Now it is only Avant 85 but I do feel that this one will go too as B&O completely transitions out of LED TVs.
For me, not enough reasons to go Avant (Though it is my first choice TV for design aspects) but each one of us may value different things.

Mikipedia:How do you plan to use it in the US? Powerwise and all? I may be moving to the US, and partially why i still have the eclipse high up in my thoughts is because it can cope with the voltage difference US/EU. And how would you connect your bl50's to them?
Hi Mikipedia.
For voltage , I plan to use a step down transformer. In fact I am already using one on my Loewe Sound Vision (Blue tooth Sound deck that I had purchased in Berlin few years back). I had also previous brought a Loewe 220V TV to the USA and used a step down transformer for almost 12 years. In scheme of things, it is not an issue at all.
Regarding connecting the BL 50 with Loewe, for a full integration, I have to study a bit more but my initial plan is to connect BL 50 directly (With S/PDIF cable) with my Universal Disc player (Oppo 205) so that Video feed goes to Loewe TV and the sound goes to BL 50. Oppo can take in other inputs as well (e.g. ARC output from TV to Oppo ) . In this use case, Oppo becomes the "Pre Amp" in the set up. It is pretty simple but as I said, I will circle back when I have full integration solution worked out.
It may also be worth studying on the Almando solutions at https://almando.com/index.php/b-o/bo-und-loewe.html

I saw the 65" yesterday in the shop. Wow. Just wow! I liked it on the pictures, but it is even more breathtaking live. Bolt, avant garde, non-conventional. I do not understand the complaints about material. It feels very premium to me. And I thought the merge between the monitor and the speaker has melted perfectly. If you did not know there were produced separately, you really could not tell. If they just did a little more to make the software like the one in BV11.

Nothing soon - dealers haven't mentioned a replacement BV14 on the horizon and they often know at least 6 months in advance. Also, a BV14 update would take some publicity/interest away from the Eclipse, which B&O won't want.

I can't recall any previous launches where the focus has been so much on the competition. The 'competition' was never really an issue previously, which further reinforces my comments that buyers are now starting to question value for money rather than just blindly buying..
I've seen the Eclipse twice now. I think the cloth fret makes it look 'budget' - it's the alu grille which gives it the B&O look. I watched a few demos, and I have to say the motion handling wasn't up to the ultra-high B&O standards. I actually noticed judder, which is something B&O virtually eliminated when they did their own processing.
Someone mentioned the screen, soundbar and 'bottom bit' all looking like one big piece, and I have to agree. Clever design.
For the dealers sakes, I hope the Eclipse sells well.

...and I made an extra thread for that:

A lot of the writers here don't seem to appreciate the specific B&O features.
It is all about picture and price.
Indeed, as i posted in my rather lengthy breakdown of the HDTV Test shoot out, the LG won very few of the individual tests compared to the Panasonic and Sony. Processing can make a difference, and theirs seem a bit better than LG's in the end.
Whether that matters to many (some, sure) prospective Eclipse customers or not, only time will tell - my suspicion is probably not.
If they struggle, i suspect it reflects a broader issue - the general perception, rightly or wrongly, that tech is moving so quickly is dropping 9k or above on a TV in today's world. Otherwise, the broader pitch for the Eclipse is good - OLED panel, best smart OS, best audio, multi-room, distinctive design.
Reason being for the most part is if b&0 implemented their processing expertise in the eclipse i think that would have been a tv to be reckoned with.
I have never been a fan of lgs picture processing, sony panasonic and the loewes processing is a lot better than the lg it is something you have to see in person to appreciate.
Each to their own but its like buying a kit car a mercedes or bentley on the outside but a ford fiesta engine powering it yes the speaker is B&0 nice and powerful no denying that but the tv itself let's face it is an lg.
Without an ounce of b&0 in it.
I always wanted to own bang-olufsen tv as their was just something special and ahead of it's time in terms of picture for me but i also wanted something bigger than 40" the v1 didn't do for me design wise and the horizon although nice doesn't blow me away in terms of design.
But the picture processing is admirable.
Beoplay A2
It is funny how this can come as a surprice.
The partnership with LG was announced long ago and it was known that LG would provide the screen/tv part.
If people don't need or appreciate the 'sound work' of B&O, the integration with other B&O products/NL, the one remote etc, there is really no need to buy the Eclipse.
Go find and buy something, that you find better picturewise and save the money for a rainy day.
