However....as for Tims Modification I can find no sign? I too read the thread in the archive detailing this mod and the reasoning behind it, so I'm surprised to find it conspicuous by its absence.....

It's entirely possible...and I'm sure he will enlighten us in the fullness of time, I was considering having a copy of Tims patent stop device made using a 3D printer and fitting it to Mr Roasts machine if I liked the result, wont have to do that now ;¬)
Found the home of the wandering spring.......should be connected between the swinging arm and the bottom cover, the fly wheel belt is also on its travels.
New belts fitted and ready to re fit the fly wheel.....looks in good shape under the cover.
Looks like someone misplaced a spring tab, bit of improvisation has gone on here
Mmm yes surely NOT Tim's work!
Found a circlip missing from the take up pulley too.......think I can find a replacement easily enough though
Having replaced the take up mechanism drive belt the whole thing is working sweetly, I suspect the old belt had stretched beyond its working parameters and wouldn't provide the required friction.......I think its time to crack open that bottle of sauvignon blanc I have been chilling in the fridge
Popped the pinch rollers out and following an email to Terrys Rollers will get them into the post for restoration, should be getting the first pair back in another week or so
He didn't do the single capstan but did machine a new wheel of some sort - I think! I have had two of these decks - the other was not as nice and we probably chucked t on our return from Bellac! Lee and I were fairly ruthless, much to Andy's horror! Most of it went into a skip! Unfortunately they had been stored in a wet cellar and most had severe corrosion and simply not worth saving. Very disappointing.
Peter
Well...that explains that mystery, such a shame that the other deck was not stored in a better environment.
During the clean up I have discovered another single strand wire has become detached, again this could have happened during the dismantling of the unit...these are quite frail.
Just looking ahead here.....does anyone know where I can get hold of a set of tape head adjustment tools? It may be that adjustments wont be required, but It would still be good to know everything is set up correctly when I replace the pinch rollers.
Reservoir capacitors next......
New ones fitted along with the bipolar ac motor cap.....
Looking over the Electronic Switch PCB prior to recapping I noticed someone has replaced a couple of Tantalum caps with electrolytic as part of a previous repair......will put new tantalum 2.2uf 35v components in there place.
All finished.....not many capacitors on this board, all easy to access too.
Little Advice here please
I need to replace 4C13 capacitor which is 250uf 50v....I have a 220uf 50v which I would like to use, would it be ok or should I go for a direct replacement at 250uf ??
Craig

No problem here Craig, you can go ahead with the 220 µF.
Cheers Jacques......That was what I was hoping ;¬)
Capstan motor servo board PC4 or Radio Amplifier which it also seem to be known as.....up next.
All done....replaced the skeleton pot too, it looked fine with no signs of corrosion...but as I had bought some I thought it best.
Operation control board next in the barrel.......Peters pinch rollers are now on their way to Terry for refurbishment, I'm hoping to get Mr Roasts rollers back soon, Terry tries to turn them around in 5 days.
All done....another step complete, so far so good.
pre Amp next to do...had an email from Terrys Rollers, the first pair are now on their way home!
Working my way through this board. there's a few more components to replace on this one. Still awaiting the rollers from Terry.
Completed this board this evening, just a few odd caps to replace here and there.....just waiting for the postman to arrive with Terrys refurbished rollers ;¬)
oops....hold the press!...I've just spotted a trimmer and a rogue tantal cap hiding on the board......couldn't see them until I had a good look at the picture I just posted.....
Partial re assembly underway, cant do too much till Terrys parcel arrives........
Well...the postman has been this morning and left the first two rollers Terry has refurbished.....they look like I would expect new one's to look, they also feel softer and somehow more rubbery as opposed to plastic like and hard.
Will build them into the arms and get ready for a test run......
Pinch rollers and circlips back in place, it looks the part....it looks like the tricky bit will be fitting the counter belt, anyone got any advice on how this can be done without breaking the electronic switch circuit board No 3??? is there a preferred way to do this?
I use tweezers to grab the belt while I gently put the PCB back in place. I've done it many many times.
thanks for that Jacques.....worked first time.....and look at this baby run! don't know what it sounds like, will hook up to the BM6000 later in the day, right now I'm just going to watch the lights blinking and look at it smugly ;¬)....It is very quite.
Well done then!
Listening to mine right now - Decca prerecorded Wagner/Solti. Very nice!
Very well done - the next job is to learn how to make really good recordings - something I usually fail at! The later decks let you cheat as they do it for you! I hope it gives you years of pleasure!
Looking good - impressive work as always and a good self-satisfied smug look never hurt anyone
Finished article.......not a very sharp pic unfortunately
This is a better one........
