You mean this ad? Seller says "custom made"?
Seller doesn't even know the name of this lamp. It's called Liko design Tube and I have one for sale.
Wonderfull design and quite heavy. Halogen lights are dimmed by just touching the metal parts. Tapping it switches it on or off. The base is made of black marble. Picture of mine?

This is one Liko design furniture for the Ouverture!
thanks for the pics leslie, the ouverture looks fantastic
Hi,
I think the most beautiful CD rack that I have ever seen was a few years back and it was in a B&O Catalogue. It wasn't a product made by B&O, it was a rack in an article on a persons home. It was shaped like the Empire State Building in New York. You had to look closely to ensure it was a CD rack and it was lit up. Just beautiful.
bidstonhall: thanks for the pics leslie, the ouverture looks fantastic
Yes - the Ouverture looks fantastic. But I don't know about the stand... For many years the design philosophy of B&O (with a few exceptions) has been 'keep it simple'. And so were their own stands for the Ouverture.IMO that one on the picture it's a bit 'over the top'...However - the CD rack is quite ok.
Steffen: (with a few exceptions)
You covered yourself with that remark
Steffen:However - the CD rack is quite ok.
Even that is way too much Dubai for my tastes

Been there, beautiful place to be! And I like it!
Leslie: Steffen: (with a few exceptions) You covered yourself with that remark
I did!

I was just trying to be polite...But I guess that owners of a Honda 'Gold Wing' MC will love Liko-design - along with a 50's style american jukebox...

Exactly, let's respect everyones taste instead of making smart remarks from MOD(S)!
Steffen, with the amount of "gear" and beer you are putting in your museum you will have no room for a cd never mind a rack.

Well - I guess there'll be room for a cd rack too...
And my collection is nothing compared to Leslie's...
Quite so Steffen, and it's expanding, expanding, expanding........
Hi Leslie & Steffen,
I am in NO position to remotely compete with either of you two gentleman, BUT I did manage to secure a second 2’ square B&O sign.
It is much newer than my first sign with its Royal Danish crown, and quite frankly I prefer my original sign, but it is a welcome addition.

Jeff, you're officially promoted as a sign collector now. Got that one to but the first has a better "3D" look!

'Sparked my curiosity since I can see the original creation from my bedroom window. This is probably it.
Looks great Bob! What do you think Mika and Martin, like it?
Your collection looks great, Steffen! Wish I had the space to do the same with some more of my stuff, but with over 50 different products (Speakers not included - 10 pairs and a Cona) and only 12.5 square meters of space (+ a garage with a few TV's in it), it's a bit difficult to display more than a few systems... but someday...!
I'll finally have time tomorrow to take some pictures of my newly acquired collectibles... and I also promised someone to take a few pics of my white BM3400...
I'll be back!
- Dennis
I could easily imagine you liking it, Leslie.Me however ? No, not particularly. But I do respect the styling, the thoughts behind and the amount of effort that went into getting there plus the peoplewho dare to be - and live different.Take this from a guy who have two pinball machines in his livingroom...

Really?
Leslie: Looks great Bob! What do you think Mika and Martin, like it?
Well, since you asked, and I presume you will respect other people's tastes...
I think the racks and stands seen on page two should be destroyed with thermonuclear weapons from low Earth orbit.
Now, if my eyes ever stop bleeding, could we please give this thread back to Steffen? I liked it until these abominations suddenly appeared from nowhere.
Well well, now I know to whom I dealing with,. You're the one with the glasses aren't you? I know who you are.
Mika,
You certainly have a keen way with words! Truthfully the piece is not my taste either, but I can see it fitting in well in Las Vegas.
Ignore, that's the best way I guess!
Forget that awful thingy, lets get back to the museum, any news Steffen, I am heavily interested in how the bar comes along.
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
Yeah, forget him! Pictures please....
Søren Mexico: Forget that awful thingy, lets get back to the museum, any news Steffen, I am heavily interested in how the bar comes along.
You'll have to be patient.
I still have some work to do with the rest of the room, before I start working on the bar
I will keep you updated with pictures when there is something new to show
This would be a nice (wooden) soldier to guard your museum Steffen!
Leslie: This would be a nice (wooden) soldier to guard your museum Steffen!
Nice one. Is it a genuine Bang&Olufsen? I think the lettering looks 'handmade'...Is it backlit,,,LED..?
It's got a quite funny expression in the face. Looks like he's suffering a bit...
This comes from a dealer and definetely not self made! Why? Have you seen these before?
Leslie: This comes from a dealer and definetely not self made! Why? Have you seen these before?
Actually I haver never seen that version before. I don't doubt it's from a dealer. I'm just wondering if the dealer had it from B&O -or maybe the dealer have had it custom-made...
It's just that I think the letters doesn't look quite 'clean' like the original B&O lettering from that time...
But - it is a nice sign anyway I envy you a bit.
I've met several dealers who had the same "soldier", so probably they all had the same idea of making these soldiers themself?
Btw, should the Bang & Olufsen not be like this, watch the "&"?

OK OK - i believe you...
And about the letters: Yes - that's the B&O of today. But as you know they have changed the typing several times. In the 70's the stores used that lettering as I showed in the post above (and B&O used them in advertising too). I rember the dealers had that 'Bang & Olufsen' typing on their signs back then, instead of BANG & OLUFSEN with capital letters.
Interesting!
Leslie: Interesting!
You only have to look at your own collection to see several items with Bang & Olufsen written like that. (I've seen that on your pictures)
Ok it was not in the 70's. It was the in the 80's and even the 90's they used that typing. (edit: I've just checked - they actually used it in the 70's, 80's and 90's)
Here's a brochure from the local B&O Center 1996/97...
And even on the B&O factory:
I´m not sure when B&O got their own fond, but here it is, before that I think they used Helvetica
Beofont: Bang & Olufsen, BANG & OLUFSEN Helvetica: Bang & Olufsen, BANG & OLUFSEN
Søren Mexico: I´m not sure when B&O got their own fond, but here it is, before that I think they used Helvetica Beofont: Bang & Olufsen, BANG & OLUFSEN Helvetica: Bang & Olufsen, BANG & OLUFSEN
You're right, Søren - It was Helvetica. I guess it was after the year 2000 they got their own font. The special '&' they use in Beofont has been in the B&O logo since 1932 when they bought it from a young painter apprentice, named Henning Dahl Mikkelsen (later known as 'Mik' when he made the cartoon 'Ferd'nand' which was in newspapers around the world for decades). However they used Helvetica with a 'normal' '&' on their products since the 60's.
I've just checked: My Beolab 4000 (and all newer, offcourse) has the Beofont - but my Beocenter 2300 (and everything older) has Helvetica fonts.
