Hi Søren,

Helvetica is an Apple font very similar to Arial, which is a Microsoft font. Both are clean and modern and sans serif. (As opposed to Times Roman)

B&O may simply have made minor modifications to Helvetica to make it their own.

The company logo is also sans serif and highly stylized, it was designed for them.

Helvetica is a Linotype font, designed 1957, not Apple, Arial is a Monotype font, and was designed for IBM, Arial is available in uncounted variations.

B&O use a font called Beofrutiger - an adaptation of Helvetica. I have the font somewhere!

Søren,

I stand corrected. A 1957 Linotype huh? You learn something every day, or at least should….

Interesting too that B&O had something of a unique font, Beofrutiger, for their own use. That is something else I just learned.

Oh how I love being educated. Big Smile Thank you gentlemen! Yes - thumbs up

I think only the name, frutiger is used for more fonts with the origin in other fonts, like the Beofont coming from mainly Helvetica.

Hi there.

It's been a while - so I think it's time for a little update on my project.
My daytime job takes too much of my sparetime Wink - so I am far from finished.
First of all, I have been busy making a new wooden staircase to the 1st floor.

A few pics of the process:

-how to make a wooden staircase Wink

And here, the next step (!)

-and back to the 1st floor...I have started to move the BnO stuff in (as seen earlier) - but the Bar is still missing Crying

This is (roughly) where there bar will be placed...

And, meanwhile...a few pics of the museum objects...Wink

-and the listening place/relaxation spot next to the bar:

-to be continued...Big Smile

That's all for now folks.
Hope you all had a merry christmas.

And a happy new year to all Beoworlders Lets have a Party !!!BeerDrinks

At first I was going to talk to you seriously about the absent bar ... but I forgave you when I saw the next picture.

A stupendous collection !!

(must show this to my wife to prove that there are collectors who are "better" (she would say "more insane") than me Big Smile

I simply have to say, you have a LOT of style! Your museum  is a handsome and tasteful display suitable for a real Bang & Olufsen retail store.

Steffen,

First of all the staircase was extremely well done so it is no surprise that your wife would be pleased with your craftsmanship.

However second, she MUST have had a clue that you had the bulk of your museum. Surely she couldn’t help notice all those amplifiers, turntables, etc.

And if it helps please feel free to tell your wife that a fellow member of BeoWorld purchased the entire showroom display from a failed auto dealer….. so I too have a museum except no bar. (an omission that can easily be corrected.) Drinks

Hi Steffen,

I see….. my apologies I misread the posting. I just knew I shouldn’t be posting things the first thing in the morning before the coffee had time to hit. Surprise

In any case your museum is a tribute to your good taste.

I couldn’t get away with another museum, so my B&O “collection” is three illuminated signs and a B&O clock located in the loft computer nook. The actual B&O equipment is scattered around the house and mostly functional.

I know that a few of you Beoworlders have been following my posting about my private B&O museum on the 1.st floor of my house.
And - Yes it has been a while since the last update...

Well- that's simply because I have been busy doing other projects - on the house,at work etc.
But now...NOW i'm gonna finish the job before this summer...

I have started building the bar besides the "Wall of B&O fame".
So -here's a few pictures - and more will follow in the next few weeks ;-)

-starting with the bar:

-and then I bought this sign:

Yeah - It's a bit of a mess right now...I haven't found a place for my BC 4600 - or my P 45's - or... ;-)

That's all for now. More to follow soon...

Steffen - looks fabulous, how envious I am looking at all the beautiful systems.  Your electricity bill must be through the roof!  I started of with one system that I purchased in Belfast sometime in the late 80s 2200 Beocenter that I recovered from the roof space, thought it wasn't working and bought another one off Ebay 4400 Beocenter, found that the 2200 system was working perfectly.  Had to purchase a set of B & O speakers to go with the 4400 Beocenter, then couldn't find original 2200 speakers, bought another set, guess what?  found the original set packed away in the roof space.  Have bought 5500 system now to go with the extra set of speakers.

Was warned on the forum by members that there is a BEOVIRUS - think I have caught it, though not as bad as you - yet!!!!

Best regards, happy collecting.

Hi Steffen,

It’s a funny world.

Due to a burdensome rent, we have offered our landlord to vacate our first floor suite, where we have our car museum, another virus, the autovirus.

Had planned to move the car stuff to a bedroom on the third floor, but discovered a complete lack of sound-proofing between the living room and the suite below, so all the stereo gear and media stuff has to go up another level. I can’t use any of it without driving the suite tenants nuts.

The net result is nearly ALL my stereo gear is going in one small bedroom which would be over-kill in any “normal” person’s life, but I will end up with a stereo museum a lot like yours, if on a smaller scale.

Suffice to say it is going to be “cozy” with the full McIntosh cabinet, flanking ML-2 speakers, the TV, and all the Beogear in that one room, but imagine the sound of a 500 watt McIntosh with ML-2 speakers and Linn Isobarics in a space 10’ X 11'.

Yep, the big McIntosh, Beocenter 9000, Beomaster 4400 and 4500 in a small space like that. Plus the Beograms 4000, 4004, 8000, and 8002. There may not be room for people…. so the BM 4500, Beogram 4500 CD player and Beogram 4004 may just go in the office/study.

If it is anything better than cramped horrible looking, will post pictures in late June.

Hi Steffen,

The lack of money is the root of evil!

We live in a real estate market that is on par with San Francisco, which is to say insanely expensive. So something had to give, in this case, space.

If all goes as planned, it should be interesting to see all that stereo gear together in such a small space. Not ideal by any means, but ya make the best of any given situation.

I love the way you have polished the wooden bar top

really looking good !

but buy lots of B&O coasters to protect it from stains

but not from dents ! the coasters are serious blunt instruments

Hi Steffen,

Your museum is truly looking great!

With the bar ready I feel certain that Søren has booked a flight on SAS and will be headed your way shortly.

My Media room “museum” resembles a shoebox with too many shoes in it.

I was about to say that with the cramped quarters there is no room for a bar….. but I just remembered the Danish teak bar my parents purchased in Copenhagen and gave to me, it was about a meter square with openings, drawers, and hatches just everywhere. Ah the victim of too many transcontinental moves.

Back to your museum, Steffen, it really is impressive and a testament to your love of all thing bang & Olufsen. Bravo!

So - here's a Little update.

The bar is now almost finished, and the booze has moved in... ;-)

-and the music is supplied by my 6500 system:
(still some finishing to do behind the bardesk... -no - not the bottles...)

-and looking to the right -some of the Collection... :

-yes, yes, I know... I need to hide those wires... Big Smile  I'm about to. But now it's time for a cold beer. Cheers.

Hi Steffen,

You asked for pictures, so here are a few. (I apologize for the multiple postings, but for the life of me I can’t seem to figure how to post more than one.)

Also please note, my media room museum can not in ANY way compete with your fantastic effort. The main reason it is of any interest is just how much I managed to cram, out of necessity, into one truly tiny room.

Hi Steffen,

It’s me yet again. As you may recall we took our living room and moved it into the newly created micro media room seen in above pictures.

That made space for my other obsession. My father-in-law just saw it and was appalled saying, “You live in a museum.” I don’t know, what’s wrong with that? Besides both the media room, cramped as it is and the new automobile museum came out far better than I expected.

Here are a couple of pictures, yea, with multiple posts.

Sorry Steffen,

I thought I had resized all the photos, but I didn't and the ones I have are too big to post. Will do later this evening and I'll post a few more of the auto obsession.
