My current setup is pretty easy: A Beocenter 2500 in the kitchen and a Beomaster 6500 via Beolab 8000 in the living room controlled via Beolink 1000, 5000 and a MCP 6500.

Now moving to a bigger house I´m thinking of buying a Beosound Essence. Is it possible to connect the Essence to the two existing Beos and stream music from a NAS or Spotify? Could the destination be controlled via App like play song 433 from NAS via Beolab 8000? Which converters will i need, will the BM 6500 maintain full functionality like play independent while the Beosound is playing over the Beocenter Beolabs?

Is there any possibility to add more rooms to such a system? I also have 2 pairs of Beovox rl 140 which could be useful in the garage while working and a few other B&O Loudspeakers for other rooms if that´s possible.

the Essence can be set to this setup........than you will have all the Essences benefits

Hello scrooge,

a very good question. I would like to connect a BS Essence (or a BS Core) to Aux-In of a BS9000. Unfortunately neither the Essence nor the Core have a Line-Out. Are there any possibilities?

as described: PL (Essence) to AUX (BS9000).

in the Essence setup; menu Sound - Line Out Level - tick the box: "use Powerlink socket for connection to an audio system instead"

So i could split the signal from the Essence with a Y-adapter and connect e.g. another Beomaster in the garage to the same rj45 powerlink socket?

Are always both powerlink sockets at the Essence used simultaneously or can I switch them on and off if i connect the Beomaster 6500 to #1 and a pair of Beolabs to #2 so i can choose weather the Beolabs should get a signal or not? Or do i have to turn them on and off with a power switch if I don´t want them to play along with the 6500?

In that case the BL’s would always be active/playing, when you use the Essence.

The BM6500 however, only if you push e.g. A.Aux on the remote for that.

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Both PL sockets are active (I think it's designed to support 2 speakers that are not daisy chain-able).  Therefore, you cannot chose which system gets a signal, but, as you say, you can always turn on/off whatever is at the other end.  I have noticed that the connected devices should be turned on when the Essence reboots because it seems like it disables the PL socket if it thinks nothing is connected.

I say this because I have a passive and BLs connected to mine.  The passive drives outdoor speakers.  I unplug the passive in the winter when I don't use the outdoor speakers.  This spring, when I plugged in the passive, it didn't work until I rebooted the Essence...

Just something to watch out for...

Stan
