moxxey: Chris Townsend: Now 18 months later the range of products from B&O(Beoplay), that i associate with the brand and find desirable,is getting smaller and smaller. Dear god let the Beovision 11 be as good as i have been told it is. My loyalty, and the associated pocket will only reach so far. Well, my dealer said that the BV11-55 should come in at around £10,000 with the stand, so that's some "good" news. I do wonder about the differences between our solid/heavy BV10 and the forthcoming BV11. Will be interesting to hear more info from Russ, particular how the speakers perform, compared to our BV10.

I can't say too much. For now, I'll just say "Wow!" with regard to the BV-11. You'll be able to ask me more soon enough.
As to the A9, it is not nearly as deep as you would imagine from the comparisons with the A8. The sound was quite good in a medium sized conference room. In my current main room it would happily replace my BeoSound 9000/BeoLab 6000's. Yes, I'm considering it!
We kid because we love.
LOL WHAT A CRAP LOOKING PRODUCT , I HAD SO HIGH EXPECTATIONS AFTER THE BUZZ HERE ON THE FORUM , AFTER CRAPPY CREAMY PLAYMAKER ANOTHER SHOCKER !! OK IT SURELY SOUNDS DUPER UPPER GOOD BUT KICK OF THE DESIGNERS !!
russ would you honestly consider changing your beosound9000 and beolab 6000s for this frying pan?? do you work for bang and olufsen by any chance ?
Wow!!! http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/04/b-o-play-beoplay-a9-expensive-fancy-wireless-speaker/
I really like the design, the legs, the spec and even the size ... I do wonder if BeoPlay items should be over £1500 though ... if this has been 2/3rds the physical size, and £999, I think it would be flying out of DK faster than they could load them.
At £1700 it starts to get costly - that is actually more than the UK average monthly net- take home wage - so a "budget", "fun" ,"young", "entry level" design will cost the average UK worker almost 10% of annual income :-(
I accept stats like average salary can be misleading ...but that is across all ages - I'm betting the average under 40 UK salary is less.... so it is a limiting factor, when your going for a younger demographic where price IS a consideration... which is, I think, the idea of BeoPlay.
That said, its still hundreds of pounds less than a Beolab 4000option, with fewer cables and and it has loads of spec and design appeal, so who knows.
I hope it is a winner.
Beo4 'til I die!
ɓʋɾɑɳɫɘɮ: Now that some of the blurbs seem to be confirming this contraption is mountable on a wall, well -I think I could see that! The specs seem strong. I think it might be fun in a kinda' funky way. But, at that price -funky alone doesn't cut it! It just looks too Walmarty discounty. I just don't see many of these moving off the shelves and into PLAY customer's abodes. The PLAY message seems blurrier than ever! I have a bad feeling the A9 may ultimately become known as a platter for someone's head!

Well said
It's the ugliest B&O play thing ever
I'm horrified. It looks like some alien. There is NO way people will pay to have this in a house. It's horrific. Some BIG BOSSES are seriously going to get fired for this contraption! It's like having a road work/speed limit sign in your living room.
A comprehensive article with a lot of tech-details, about wall mounting and colour options ...

Picky, picky people on here. I think it looks awesome, but then again I have a Geneva sound L which I love as well.
I think I'm going to sell the Geneva and pick up one of these when they're available. I've seen white and red so far, would love to see the other colors
For EUR 2,000, you'd better get a Playmaker and connect it to a pair of second-hand BeoLabs, you'll have the same function, plus far better sound and, at least, a stereo perspective...
Seriously, I fell in love with B&O for the flat and square futuristic design, so this retro one will never be in my home, with its wooden feet; I was no great fan of BS8/BeoPlay A8 for the same reason.
And with 70 cm width, stereo perspective will be quite limited. Personally, I'd have preferred an updated BeoLab 3500 with ICE Power, Airplay, passive radiators and the center controls replaced by a control panel that could also have served as a dock..but you can't please everybody!
I quite like the havana version of the V1, though..
PhilLondon: A beautiful object.
A beautiful object.
I think out of all the opinions expressed today, this probably covers everything. The A9 will have appeal beyond the younger digital crowd. More likely you will see this in design magazines and in the homes of people who like design. It is almost avant-garde.
For most of us in this forum, this is a love or hate item. I really think this is a winner and I hope it is a financial success.
I haven't decided if I like it. I will have to see it in the store. In an Apple store, it should be interesting to see.
Are David and Jens rolling in their graves?
expoman: Are David and Jens rolling in their graves?
I showed a picture of the a9 to my girlfriend but didn't said the company , and wrote 3 prices on the paper from 99 $ -- 1000$ ,and asked her.
She said 99$ wallmart
Jacob Jensen is NOT dead nor in a grave ! but he s surely rolling anyway
Oh dear.

Oh, you're right, apologies for having an opinion that differs from yours. In future, remind me to PM you before posting, so you can tell me whether it's too negative for you or not, as you don't agree?
Seriously, some people may like the A9, others do not. For me, it's less about the design, it's the sheer size of the thing that I can't get to grips with. It will dominate - it's bigger than some users TVs. I think a lot of users are underestimating the size. If you look at the size compared to a person standing next to the A9, it's about as high as their waist. That's huge. Really huge. It's also a little more expensive than I had expected, for a BeoPlay device. I guessed £1200 max. £1700 for a single speaker will come across as very costly for the average non-B&O consumer, which is supposed to be the BeoPlay targe audience. It's just about having some concerns, nothing more.
I don't actually mind the look of the thing - it's just it's sheer size. For something that would never be my "main" system, it's just far too large for an occasional music player in another room. It's good that they've gone for performance but they would have sold an awful lot more if they'd managed to fit it into a more "small room friendly" package.
While I'm not a fan of the V1 I thought it would be hard to make it look worse - however, always up for a design challenge, they managed to pull it off by making it brown with castors! (Or as it's called Havana, maybe those should be Castros)
Ban boring signatures!
Is it confirmed for March 2013 ? Cannot wait for a new Beosound, i'm selling my Beocenter 2 and i would like to get a replacement :)
I won't comment about the A9, it seems to me like a 'single speaker off of the A8' ; this is for IKEA fans, not Bang&Olufsen.
Sorry guys, but for me Bang&Olufsen was (WAS ) the exact opposite of the IKEA. Looking wise, styling wise, luxus -wise, and price-wise.
I'm happy if BeoPlay can replenish B&O financial situation, but i personally would NEVER buy a B&O Play product....just i don't get the design...it's CHEAP in my opinion.
Modern and actual yes, but in a WRONG way (andwith the WRONG price); i hope that some rich youngster can buy'em...
Look here for example, do you think that an A9 ro even a V1 can fit that room desing ? All right, it's B&O Play and not Bang&Olufsen....but i love Bang &Olufsen only
I mean, 2.000 euros for THIS thing ? AHHAHAHAH! I buy an AWESOME couple of Boelabs 1 at the same price, no doubt about it !
Sorry the irony, but you understand what i mean...
Is it mono? I don't think so.
I don't think anyone is saying this is a better solution than a pair of stereo speakers for sound quality, and I guess if you went into a dealer with a 2k budget and sound quality was your main concern they would point you towards BeoLab 4000.
this is a different product. What about wall mounted and attach to Sonia rather than nasty sounding and looking ceiling speakers. I can see a market for these
I'm flabbergasted!
I don't know what to say....
But I'll say, WTF is that?!
If that becomes a sales success, I'll eat my hat. With peppers and ketchup.
A plastic disk on three wooden legs. My eyes!
Too long to list....
Raeuber:Another shocking design desaster after the Playmaker. I'm very disappointed. But my wife will be very happy, because I don't need money for B&O-equipment anymore, so she can buy hundreds pair of shoes in the near future (I hope better designed than Beoplay products)! /Räuber

Hear hear.
My last B&O product that I bought was the BV10 2 years ago.

Couldn't agree more Puncher!
"Havanna". What a nice name for brown. A horrible Brown. Limited to the 32"? Is that a marketing trick, loads of unsold 32" chassis in the factory? Of all the colors available, and you make something Brown!
Tue, the in-disguise Hipster?
When I saw the first pics taken with a mobile I was thinking "F*cking ugly"...
.. but now that I've seen it on the BeoPlay website: it's a stunning beautiful product.. Unfortunatly... I don't have room for it...
Congrates on the design team...
bayerische: If that becomes a sales success, I'll eat my hat. With peppers and ketchup. A plastic disk on three wooden legs. My eyes!
ROTFL !!!
But you're so right; i'll try to be synthetic: cheap looking; premium price.
Don't like the illuminated on/off button, the wooden legs;the detailing; don't like everything...and luckily i found this video about HOW the A9 is crafted...'cause before seeing it i would be that it is made in China and not in Denmark.
That is what the loks and the styling suggest me,honestly

It's made in Czech.
But on the other hand, what does it matter where it is made, it could be made in the Vatican, but it wouldn't make it any less ugly.
I think B&o commercially chose the right direction. This will find a new audience. Don't look at it with 'Jensen' eyes, it's a departure from the B&o as we all know it. But if that means they will stay in business, that allright with me. And perhaps it sounds good too...
Don't forget that Porsche is a SUV-manufacturer at the moment...
I likes it.
Think it looks pretty sweet wall mounted.
Tempted to get one for ma crib.
As long as it sounds musical with da funky bass and annoys the neighbours, I'm in.
This will grow on people...people.
Not so keen on the rolling pin legged satellite dish look though.
Love the idea of having one big bass bin [effect] on the wall.
Tempted to have two in the bedroom, one either side of the bed to wake me up in the morning.
Awesome.
My wife was shocked when I just asked her what she thinks. When I told her it is a B&O she was probably scarred for life. "That's NOT a B&O" = direct quote.
I would like to hear more women's inputs on this design.
