As usual, I think we whent too fast.

Seeing the video from the factory makes you realise it´s a well built product. Spech´s also.

2000 € is high but product is unique.

Stb brackets hurry up to make a terrific alu stand...

My wife was shocked when I just asked her what she thinks. When I told her it is a B&O she was probably scarred for life. "That's NOT  a B&O" = direct quote.

You're right, it is not a B&O, it is a BeoPlay. That's why they've created another brand.

Donna Karan makes dressing gowns. DKNY makes t-shirts. Nobody is wondering why their t-shirts are not made of silk and stop at the waist instead of going all the way to the floor! So we shouldn't be surprised that Beoplay isn't making aluminium column speakers!

That said, having visited (like you) the Struer Museum, I saw that through the years, B&O has released standalone music systems that didn't look like anything that existed before, and probably shocked a few people, and I think this one in the straight line of some stuff I have seen there.

That said, like most here, I am a B&O customer, I like my things to work together, I like alu and glass, so this range isn't for me, but I am glad it exists for people that just want to go to a shop, buy 1 product, go home, plug it and play.

I would like to hear more women's inputs on this design.

No prob, I asked my my wife yet: "Must be a folding table from IKEA".

When I saw the first pictures, I thought it looked ridiculous. Mainly the legs! However it is growing on me. I could see this on the wall of my kitchen, though I want a blue cover!! It also reminds me of the very very early B&O speaker one sees at the Struer museum which is a round disc! More retro than we first thought. Will definitely be auditioning this one!

There is a picture of it wall mounted on Beoplay - you need to scroll down.

So there is - unfortunately the picture is trying to be so "arty" that it doesn't really show me what I'd like to see - why do they do this!!!Super Angry What's the point of a washed out, head on shot of a round black speaker on a plain white wall!Huh? It gives no sense of size or scale, how the speaker actually fits to the wall, how much it stands off etc.

As an aside, I find the entire Beoplay website and it's navigation extremely irritating.Angry

Right!.......... (deep breath, calm down) - I could quite like the A9 wall mounted, the speaker part without the stand is quite elegant, the size is less of an issue than when stood on the floor and I always did prefer my RL's when bolted to the wall. I doubt I'll be a customer though - too expensive for me for an occasional speaker, I'd rather put that sum towards better mainroom speakers. I'm still not keen of the floor standing option.

Finally, damn, that brown telly is ugly!!

Ban boring signatures!

It's got nothing to do with "hate", it's simply a poor designed product. IMO.

Both physical design wise, and technically. It's not going to have a proper stereo image (on the other hand the few that are going to buy this, might not even know what stereo means). I'm willing to bet it will sound nowhere close to a BL9. If it does, then the Beolab 9 was a failure to begin with.

It's not mono, but physics robs it from producing a "proper" stereo sound image.

Well at least the A9 has opened up a lot of passion and discussion. Good, bad and ugly

The site hasn't been this busy for a while or since the V1

"Havanna". What a nice name for brown. A horrible Brown. Limited to the 32"? Is that a marketing trick, loads of unsold 32" chassis in the factory? Of all the colors available, and you make something Brown!

Tue, the in-disguise Hipster?

You will understand it better once we add an ironic moustasche.

As to the A9... my first reaction was indeed "WTF?". Now I love it. Especially the wooden legs. It will be right at home in a certain decor (somebody already mentioned Vitra chairs). It's nothing like anything before and that is what is needed, not just variations of existing conformist designs - they have been made already. I can imaging the talk around other similar solutions in the future: "...but have you seen that B&O thing?". This assuming that it actually delivers what the size promises - and I have no reason to doubt that.

Having followed all the posts here today and the first amateur pics I thought ... Oh dear.

Having looked through the site in detail tonight I now think... wow.... This thing looks pretty cool!

I think I'm finally starting to understand the BeoPlay concept too. A lower priced, design forward range delivering connectivity through AirPlay. This is differentiated from B&O which is premium priced, classic lasting design delivering connectivity through (currently) Masterlink.

So ultimately there's 3 points of distinction between the brands... price, design ethic, and connectivity standard (read "reliability"... I find AirPlay pretty unreliable and bugged with sync issues when using multiple playback devices at once - Compared to a rock-solid Masterlink experience).

That is indeed the ugliest TV (in my opinion) I have ever seen.  Can't imagine what they were thinking.

I guess it's difficult with the website.  You want to give enough information and detail to engage people and get them interested, but leave enough out so that ultimately it drives a visit to the store to see the thing hands on and get an idea of the last details you couldn't get from the web.

Did I mention hat seriously ugly brown telly?

One interesting thing for me regarding the A9 is the different coloured fabric covers. They are offering green and brown, as an example.

But what confuses me is why they don't offer the same consistent colours across all the products? For example, I can buy superb bright yellow speaker covers for my Beosound 8, but not for the BV10-46, which means I can't give them both the same grill covers. Now the A9 has green and brown covers, will they bring the same shades for the BS8/A8 and, perhaps, the BV11, I wonder?

And, in reverse, why hasn't B&O released orange and yellow speaker covers for the A9?

Consistency!

Great point, Totally agree, be consistent with the colour options B&O and BeoPlay. I have a red BV10 but can't get the same for my BL8000 BL6000 and BL2 in the same room, wish I could have

Think it looks pretty sweet wall mounted.

On the wall the A9 looks excellent - if you choose the "right"  colour of fabric for your room ...

If this is the way B&O's design philosophy is going , I may very well forget any ideas of buying anything by them ever again. I was hoping to replace the avant in the front room soon . ( Just wish it would break down - lol )

They hit a recent high point with the BV10 , since then everything I've seen , and I mean EVERYTHING has been at the very least boring and at worst visually offensive.

Brown TV's , wooden legs on an upturned drum kit , radio's that look like breeze blocks , airplay beige boxes etc etc ?

Have B&O actually bothered to look at what the mainstream are doing these days ? The average Sony looks more stylish than anything they've come up with recently.

Don't worry Flappo, the BV11 launches next week and that may be FABULOUS!!!!!!!!

I'm beginning to think the BeoPlay A8 should have been left as a BANG&OLUFSEN not the Play brand as it's definitely more BANG&OLUFSEN style and class. Should really have been left as the entry left BANG&OLUFSEN just like the Century & BS1

Maybe i'm biased as I think the BS8 is truly iconic in its design and maybe the last from David Lewis! So in a way collectable!

Yes I have Flame Red BV10 and BLs not available in that colour. My point is that they should release colours across the entire range so new products can easily exist/match with old products with a simple fabric swap. A A9 in green needs to match my other kit in a large open indoor / outdoor living area as I would be more inclined to take the plunge or mix and match a will

Tick tock where's my A9 clock hands

Looks like a chair! Definitely a product aimed at the more arty and definitely less bourgeois.

It will fit right into my bathroom! I know it will sound great because the product is going to sold at an Apple store which will inevitably introduce a lot of direct comparisons from the sophisticated ipod dock shoppers and no company wants a make publicity flop. Just look at how great the beosound 8 is!

Gorgious? The BL12s are shockingly awful and crass, in multiple ways. In appearance, dated 80s design and performance. Both myself and a non-B&O "audiophile" demoed the BL12's and came away very disappointed - BL3s blow them away, for example.

And don't get me started on the white BL12s! My local dealer refused to stock a pair and that must be a rarity for any dealer :)

There's no f*cking way Apple will include a 90cm high £1700 speaker in their stores. They barely have room for the Mac Pro's and Cinema Displays.  Do people think things through?

I suggest you reserve judgement until you have seen and heard it in your local stores.

I heard it this week at a training meeting and the sound quality is not lacking. When you see images of the A9 in a room set up you will see that it almost merges into the background. There is a deliberate lack of logo so that it isn't obvious when you see it what it is.

I think this is a winner :-)
