I’ve found out by looking at the RSSI values in Beotool, that my A6 measure say -75 when my M3 and M5 measure say -43 (better) . M3 and M5 are behind walls in their own rooms 10 meter from router. A6 2 meters from same router in same room.

That tells me that the wifi hw in the A6 are rather weak.

Now, the Beotool app also tells me that the A6’s PCB = CA6. I think mine are manufactured 2/2016. Are newer A6s still CA6 or maybe a newer hw revision with better wifi are made today?

Debugging: I’ve now hardwired my A6 via ethernet. It’s running Deezer Hifi multiroom (with M3 and M5. They are on wifi) smoothly now for 3hrs.

The same scenario with A6 on wifi, it only lasted 10-20 mins. then lost connection and froze up.

My 6 is also the same CA6

And it’s right at the other end of the house with the lowest signal. Never skipped a beat.

Smile Yes, it’s a great performer, the A6. I’m very satisfied with the sound and I like the design better and better.

Please, some day, if you get the time - would you check the RSSI value for me in the Beotool app? I wonder what yours say, now you have no problems. In the app, press the device, that takes you to the product details panel. There you find the RSSI value. Stands for Received Signal Strength Indicator.

I cannot get it to be better than around -70 Sad When it drops the connection it’s worse than -80. Where as my M5 and M3s have much better values, around -50 -40. The M3 is by far the best.

Wow, that’s a high value Surprise

Under Product->About->Diagnosis ..->Update history, first entry says 11/2/2016. I guess thats about the time it was manufactured. What does yours say? Anyway, I wonder if I have a faulty device .. Thanks

-73

But it’s also the farthest away from the router.

The a9 is closer at 53

After sending the report about my A6 RSSI findings to B&O, they responded and told me that they will check up on some things in the firmware.

Mine is also CA6, same software level as yours, and RSSI reports as -72 dB (good or excellent in every other display). I haven’t noticed any problems that I could blame on weak wifi connection.

The router is perhaps 6 m away, but it is a ZTE with no external antenna, and it has quite short range.

Update. B&O DevTeam mailed me back. They acknowledge the RSSI problem. It may be the A6s wifi antenna that is causing the problems and recommend that I return the A6 for an exchange.
