Is there any reason why a Beolab 5000 will not accept a second tape input in the AUX port?
I decides to connect my new Beocord 5000 to the Beolab and moved my AKAI tape recorder to the AUX ports. I didn't expect any problems, but there is no sound from the AKAI. It worked flawlessly using the tape ports for a full year, so what am I missing?

Hi Jacques,
I have the correct RCA to 5-pin DIN adapter, but there is no sounds.
Been having other teething pains with the Beolab. Remember the lamps flickering at 5 on the volume scale. This slowly got worse and the amp was running a bit hot. Went in not knowing what to look for and found a TINY wire that got somewhere it shouldn't have been. It is like having an entirely NEW amp now, no lamp flickering, a LOT more available power, and the sound improved.
Yesterday the right channel had very little sound and NO upper range, nothing. I tried exercising the slider controls which appeared to help, then not. Switched speaker wires and the problem moved to the other speaker.
I didn't do anything else, but this morning the problem disappeared again, and stayed great all day. I am no tech, but I believe it is a bit of dirt or corrosion in the balance or volume sliders.
Vintage electronic after a complete restoration require a bit of a sense of humor. I love this Beolab and more than willing to be patient.
Hello. Has anyone been able to resolve this? I've been using the TAPE input for connecting my aux cord to my iPhone to stream music through the Beolab 5000. No problems.
Recently acquired a Beocord 5000 and plugged it into the TAPE, works great. Plugged my aux cord into the AUX input and no sound is coming out.
Strange. Please help! thank you :)
Have a look at this post....I found that the AUX input is wired differently to the PHONO input some tame back......dont know if it will help you.

Correct. You need different cables for the tuner and the aux inputs. No big deal if you can solder.
Trouble is, I think that B&O complied with the actual DIN norm, whereas others just didn’t.
What’s great with the Beolab is that you won’t saturate the AUX input with a CD player!
You can adjust everything to be level once and for all. I did that many years ago and never had to get back on my settings.
