Hi

I am trying to use a pair of Beolink Wireless 1 units! I am having no luck. One is set as a transmitter, the other as receiver.....I press the CON button on both of them, they connect, lights are both green. 20secs or so they go to red which I presume is standby mode. The transmitter is connected to a Beosound 3000 via Masterlink cable...then then I have a pair of Beolab 4000 speakers on the receiver. when I turn the Beosound on nothing happens, the lights just stay red? Are the Wireless units faulty? I have swopped them around, same response!

I thought it would be an easy setup...not so much. Any help for me?

Thanks

Ben

**edit...I see I am supposed to use an IR? I don't have one of those therefore it renders it useless? Which IR does the system use?

Yes you need to connect an ir eye in order to use it as a wireless beolink active. Any b&o eye with din plug will so.

One more question...apparently the Beolab 3500 MK1 won't work with the Beolink wireless 1, if I have an IR will the  Beolab 3500 then work?

Kromer:

Why won't the mk1 work?

I was told that the Beolab 3500 Mk1 does not work with the Beolink wireless 1 as it doesn't have the software for that.....only the Mk2 has??

From a previous posting I found this from Keith Sanders who's the tech advisor for this site.

Let me give you an overview of Beolab 3500 and Beolink Wireless.

First the Beolab 3500 has two variations:-

  1. LCS9000 later to become the Beolab 3500 Mark I which has MCL (Master Control Link) and ML (Masterlink) but NOT Powerlink and has a latest software version of 2.1. You can see the FAQ on this site on how to upgrade to version 2.1 software. The LCS9000 and the Beolab 3500 Mark I CANNOT be used with the Beolink Wireless
  2. Beolab 3500 Mark II was introduced to be linked with the Beolink Wireless, but initially could only be used via the Powerlink, but subsequently was able to be used in a fully Masterlink configuration subject to some product restrictions. The latest version of the software in the Beolab 3500 is version 3.1

The Beolink Wireless requires version 2.0 or above for full Masterlink capability and the latest version is version 2.1

Which means if it is a Beolab 3500 Mark2 it will not work via Masterlink unless you update the software in both the wireless 1s and the Mark2 to the relevant software .

How do you tell if your BL3500 is a mk1 or mk2?

I'm asking since I am considering a Wireless 1 / BL3500 combo upstairs in my house.

You need to check the serial number.

Beolab 3500 MK 1 up to serial no. 1934xxxx

Beolab 3500 MK2 above serial no. 1934xxxx
