hi everyone,
I am new to this forum, and since I’ve not been posting on many forums, I hope I do this right. I just bought a Beovision 7-40 MK2, and I’m struggling getting a picture from my set top box. I have bought a hdmi to dvi Adapter from Amazon, all is plugged ok, but no picture. I’ve tried reading on the Internet as to what may be the cause of that , and there are notes regarding the set up of the actual port. I understand this is done through the connections menu on the tv, but still no luck. Is there a step-by-step guide for what needs to be done, or can someone please advise. I have yet to overcome the sound issue, which again I’m not sure if there will be one, as I see people using sky tv without any problems?
many thanks

Hi and welcome to Beoworld
Are you sure your BV is HD Ready ? (I've had the same problem with my BV6-26 mk1...)
I understood the definition of the screen isn't enough to show a broadcasted HD picture, it must be equipped to decode HDCP signal (copy protected content).
Forgot the welcome....
So: welcome!
For HD ready check this link:

Thanks for that, only it’s not a sky box but just a off the shelf freeview
Thanks for the link - it turns out the tv is HD ready, so far so good, but still no luck . What Ive been doing so far is to switch the tv on,select tv>menu>options >connections>AV4=PC . Once selected, sub menus for AV 4 = source, audio socket , IR socket and HDTV. When the latter is selected I am then given the option of either NO , DVI-I or YPbPr. Is this right, am I on the right track? Any suggestions are most welcomed
Hello Nikolay,
first you have to put your freeview box in 720p output mode. Your BV is limited to this resolution. Most boxes have 1920p as standard output mode.
You need to have another (newer) tv to connect the freeview box and put it in 720p mode. Then reconnect it to the BV.

Hi Martin,
thanks for the advice, did what you said I should, and still no luck 😢, in the connections menu have re-named a port, or how did you allocate it to recognise the source that’s coming in through the dvi?
Many thanks
Hi Nikolay,
You also have to modify the Beo4 menu in order to have PC available in the list.
Then, you start your BV by pressing List on the remote until you see PC, then Go.
It worked!!! I added a new button - PC- in the LIST menu and it worked!!! Thank you
