Good luck on your fun project! You'll love what the BLGW can do.
You should be able to update your Active unit through a B&O service technician.
I think you'll find that you'll want to use a combination of both Lutron and Hue lighting. The BLGW makes it seamless to bridge all of these together.
You need to know that in order to integrate Alexa voice control, you'll have to use IFTTT and you'll have to buy an annual subscription of about $100 through Khimo. Only macros that you've created can be triggered by Alexa.
As for playing Alexa music through your B&O speakers, you'll be terribly disappointed. The quality of music from Alexa's line-out or BT is atrocious. This isn't B&O's fault. It's Amazon's fault.
chucky:I have noticed the sound quality, that is why I was looking at the playmakers as DAC. Will this not help or am I getting diappointed? I thought I just had a lousy cable The active kit is so old, I think it is a hardware issue, they need to solder a chip, so not just flashing to update. A used one will than be probably be better and cheaper. I read over the anual subscription of Khimo, it is a expensive but worth it? Thanks!

Since you asked, I'll not restrain myself and I'll rant a bit. Once you get the Khimo working, the IFTTT works fine. I don't see much of a lag in the responsiveness. However, I really would prefer to have a direct integration between the BLGW and Alexa. I've never felt entirely comfortable with the security of IFTTT. It's something that I would never integrate my home security system / door locks with.
Khimo argues that you also get remote access and control of your BLGW with their service. However, I've never used it.
Now I'm really going to rant: Khimo's customer support is amateurish at best. The setup process to get an account is overly cumbersome and could be simpler. The annual renewal also could be better implemented. On my last renewal, my Paypal account was TRIPLE BILLED! It took a bit of time to get that all sorted. Once you have the account or have renewed the account, you're fine....for the next 12 months.
chucky:Hmmm your a rich man if the can deduct 3 times the amount Setup will be a pain as I am in the Netherlands, when I tried to activate Alexa I had to make a new Amazon adress in the USA. A refund through Pay Pal shouldn’t take so long though , it is obvious that you can only pay for one subscription or do you have multiple gateways? Why would you need multiple gateways? I do like the IFTTT principle, I want to try it for at least a year to see if and how it works. After plastering my garage I put up Hue lights and a beolab 7-2 on an acive kit and setup Alexa. So cool to turn on spotfy and volume and lights on just voice I cannot wait untill it is up and running

I just have one BLGW. Yes, they deducted 3x from my PayPal account. As I said, the customer support is horrible. They have no clue how to run a business.
I have direct control of my B&O kit using Alexa through MLGW by using domoticz, though you can use HA bridge, which mimics Hue lights, so your BLGW should be able to connect that way. Haven’t tried that route myself.
You lost me at domoticz, looked at it before, but I am not technical, I am just somebody with an extensive need for comfort
I cannot even get a NL/ML converter to set up as beolink active. I can wire anything but there it ends. We all have are limitations, but mine kick in a lot sooner I have noticed. That is why I need expensive boxes like the Tahoma, easy setup, plug and pray.
Found a sollution, look at this, fully support by B&O and it is Somfy a really good brand.
Io homecontron

I will be trying to get it running in afew weeks.

Hi,
Where can I find the io-homecontrol Gateway Configuration Tool 1.0.2?
Thanks
Tools advanced download external driver.
you need a KLF 200, the Tahoma doesn”nt work with the gateway. Still haven”t got it working just ordered it.
OK Update
I have purchased and shifted.
Kitchen essence 2 + Essence Remote + Join Eye + Alexa on Line in
Bathroom Passive ML + Beovox 1 + Eye
Childsroom Active ML + Beolab 4
Childsroom BV 8-26 ML + Beolab 6000
Livingroom BV 7-40 ML + Beolab 9*4 + Belab 3
Masterbedroom BV6-26 ML + ML/MCL + Beovox 3000
Garage NL/ML Converter + Linkeye + Beolab 7-2
Garage Beosound Core as Audiomaster
Velux KLF 200 + Velux Skylights in some rooms working
Philips Hue working
I would really like to view first te pro's and cons of both solutions. I will not change any Beovisions in the near future the will be ML based. (I still have 1 BV6 in the garage with HDMI and the other one is also HDMI and a like a small screen in Link rooms)
Great updates @chucky!
How did you go about solving BLGW -> KLF 200 ? I just bought a KLF 200 but BLGW seems to think KLF200 is down using ethernet and tcp port 51200 closes after a few minutes.
Regards
Alex
