Hello Beoworlders,
My beloved Lab5 show a strange behaviour since a few weeks.
When turning off the system, the discrete relay "clicks" are replaced by huge "pops".
It also happen from time to time when I use the AV.. command.
You have all guessed that I need help, or at least a few tips to test what's happening.
The nearest dealer is 100 miles away, so I would prefer to be sure it's not a problem that I can solve by myself.
Thanks by advance and kind regards,
Yann.

Hi Yann, is it happening on both or just 1 ? Are you using just a two pin plug into your mains electricity ? Guessing bl5's have an earth pin ? If is only one speaker i would suspect your speaker cable. Best to eliminate the obvious first.
Have you made some changes in your setup right before the behaviour started?
Are your BL5s connected to a BV?...Settings correct?Do have sound on both BLs? ...Green light?
Does the fault only appear on one BL?
First I`d try is to disconnect mains, Powerlink and spdif (if connected) for five - ten minutes and then reconnect.
I had a similiar problem with one of my 5s years ago, but sometimes even no sound....
Stefan
Hello,
I come back after some testing:
I did not really noticed when the problem appeared, nothing has changed in my setup.
BL5 are connected to BV9, settings OK (same on BV and Labs).
They are not earthed (by design, the power plugs do not have an earth connexion).
Only one BL5 is affected,
The default appears with or without SP/DIF, either on audio or video sources.
I changed the Powerlink cable, the default remains.
If I switch the systen off after a short time (5/10 minutes), no "pop".
If I switch the system off after a longer delay, the "pop" occurs.
It looks like the default is located in the Lab5. Any clue?
Thanks for your help,

Agree. Sounds like you both have faulty electronics in one of your BL5s.
As said before I had the same (?) popping sound in one of my BL5s years ago.
The complete chassis was replaced by an electronics kit - Eprom of the faulty chassis was set to the new kit to match the other BL5.
My BL5s sound exactly as before, the fault never appeared again.
The exchange kit from Beo was 250 Euros, the labour of my Beo store was 0 Euro...:)
They said, BL5 should`t get faulty after a few years, so they wouldn`t charge me for the repair. I took it as a special kind of "warranty"
Stefan,
It sounds as you are a lucky man.
I wonder if this type of "special warranty" is still alive in nowadays B&O world.
Thanks for your help.
