Aussie Michael:What colour is it ? I can't make it out. Interestingly though I was thinking earlier today that that copper is a tad rose golden. But to be love affair the black would have forged iron grey :-)

The A2 is helping my WAF.
Since we're talking A2's. My wife has been carrying her (black/copper) A2 around the house ever since it arrived. She absolutely loves it, and I have to admit, that little thing packs a punch for it's size. It makes me happy that she's sincerely thrilled with a B&O product that she loves for herself. One. Step. Closer... to another pair of Beolabs.
"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"
Time for a little update again. School is over in one week, so hopefully I will spend some more time on BeoWorld soon. And as if I didn't have enough projects going on, I bought myself another one yesterday.
A white BeoSystem 5500. I bought it as nonfunctional, and the seller was getting rid of it for the same reason. As you may notice there is no BeoMaster - It was still working, so the seller wanted to keep it. The rest of the BeoSystem is indeed in need of some TLC; the BeoGram CD refuses to play CDs and is making strange scraping noises, the BeoCord drawer isn't operating and is making strange noises as well but it seems to play tapes and the BeoGram came without a pickup but seems to be working otherwise - the lid could do with a polish though. Overall it's in good cosmetic condition and doesn't seem to have yellowed, so if I manage to get the faults sorted out and find a nice matching BM5500, 6500 or 7000 I'm sure I will have a lovely system.

All good looking Dennis, and a good project, good to see you here again
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

Ben_S:Very nice Dennis! Those issues sound very familiar to me and they are fairly easily fixable. Here is mine!

Evan will love this, he has the white BeoVirus variant

They do not, but they don't put the Beovox 5000 to shame!

I don't, Eddie! I am weak.

I am strong, very strong, until the virus or the FS decides otherwise

Hi Jacques,
Always glad to be of help!
The truth is your comment, which applies to all of us, triggered the thought that in reality, weakness aside, I personally tend to be “strong” at all the wrong times.
A stunning Beolab 5000 comes vividly to mind. Snarl.
Oh yes, I do remember that one. Still sticks in your craw eh?
chartz:Oh yes, I do remember that one. Still sticks in your craw eh?
Oh you bet, BIG time.
Now in all candor it was the “right” decision based on the situation at the time.
I was working in a caustic work environment under a boss who ruled by fear, terror, and intimidation. (I don’t thrive under any of these.) I couldn’t get a good night’s rest and my blood pressure was in the stratosphere. My physician told me bluntly either find another job of face either a heart attack or stroke….. “It’s your choice.”
Not relishing either of those latter choices, I quit. The replacement jobs I had “lined up” didn’t materialize, which came as an unpleasant shock with my pension start over a year away.
So I chose to be careful which was arguably the right choice, BUT knowing all I know now, I would have purchased that Beolab 5000. I had enough in savings to get by and who knows when I’ll have that opportunity again?
In life our greatest regrets are uniformly what we failed to do rather than what we did.
My son just bought for me a Beolit 505, black in Esblerg DK, I have no pics yet but the antenna top is missing. My son will bring it when he comes over in September.
Does anyone know if it is possible to change the transformer from 220 to 110 V
Here a pic, but not the one my son bought
Hey Søren,
Very nice indeed.
Nothing like having loyal family members find you goodies and then hand deliver them to Mexico.
What a guy! You must have been an extraordinary father!
Piaf:What a guy! You must have been an extraordinary father
He is the youngest out of 4, and I am no extraordinary father, children only need love and a push in the right direction now and then. Its the same with vintage B&O

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.
I get more and more agitated about the Beolit 505, one member here was showing his tours with his Beolit, on the beach in the forest and so on, it was one of reasons why I wanted one. In the Easter vacations we went to a vacation home near Uvalde TX, no radios, no TV no internet. It would fit right in there. Not to speak of when someone is playing their Iphone or pad, and then offer them to connect to the Beolit and then listen to beautiful music, loud and clear
we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.
Mark:it was common to place a mirror behind a carriage or mantle piece clock to show off its exquisite design..... we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.
The addiction is still alive and well, I ALMOST had a Beomaster 3000.2 purchase to report.
This Beomaster 3000.2 was in very nice cosmetic condition overall, and even the radio channel selector plastic protective plate was in place and it sold for $11.79.
Nice seller but she said the shell was dented in the corners which would be very hard to repair, and never provided photos thereof.
In addition the sliders were rather yellowed, there were no photos of the lamps illuminated, the AFC toggle had a match stuck in it as it wouldn’t stay in place, and no description of the performance other than “it powers up, sounds fine, but there are input issues.”
That was enough for me to pass.
Cheap price for a 3000.2 that still works, but it would not make up for my failing to purchase that pristine BeoLab 5000, so I opted out.
Perhaps net time I will have something to share.
Will you ever forget about that Beolab 5000 Jeff?
chartz:Will you ever forget about that Beolab 5000 Jeff?
On one hand, it occurs to me it might be the “polite” thing just to stop talking about it.
However what I REALLY don’t want to ever here is someone says, “Oh, I didn’t know you wanted a Beolab 5000, I just got rid of one….”
Ouch, that would hurt.
So I let it crop up now in then on the off hope that a surprise positive scenario might “magically” materialize.
I acknowledge I probably have a better chance winning the BC Lotto, but we all like to have something to hope for, don’t we?
And when we buy those occasional Lotto tickets, we don’t really expect to win, but as my Grandmother used to say, “It never hurts to dream.”
Wow, that was a great way to start the week.
I wish everyone a fantastic week!
I missed out on BL/BM 5000, buy now USD 200.00, 2 years ago, because I was on the phone with a client, 3-5 minutes late and it was gone. I now have mine waiting in McAllen, but for a higher price, and looking worse than the ones I missed. I fully understand Jeff, I for my part will never forget it, and when I start repairing mine I will always think back to the missed one, was it better and why didnt I brake of the phone call with my client. Miracles are waiting to happen, but not much chance with BL/BMs 5000, there are few of them left.
The virus rages on. The keypad is all loose and a plastic piece which is part of the off switch is broken ? matbe? Also, the seller said it doesnt pwer up. but all in all it is in good enough shape that a restoration is warranted. The trim is Teak
Note the europlug.

was that the one you missed I sent you the emails about ?
Søren Mexico: I fully understand Jeff, I for my part will never forget it,
Hi Søren,
I knew you would understand.
Yet it was SO much worse than posted.
The seller was as good as they get, his Beolab close to cosmetically flawless and the electronics rock solid sound.
He was dealing with yahoos and REALLY wanted me to have his Beolab. I know this beyond doubt due to our private emails both during the auction and after. Three post auction emails!
The seller told me “I really wanted it to go to a good home and I can tell you would have been the one to give it that.”
That is when I KNEW I made a huge mistake, but you can’t take thing back.
Well I goofed, but I look forward to your detailed restoration of YOUR Beolab 5000. (I intend to live vicariously!)
Bought this BeoStorage ST2500 yesterday for £3,75 / 5,35€! Overall condition is good with only a few marks/scratches here and there - nothing that's visible at first glance though, so I'm very pleased. I was surprised how heavy the stand is, but obviously it has to have a little weight to prevent it from tipping over in case someone bumps into it.
