Bought myself a new toy, will be shipped to TX, where I pick it up around Xmas, I am giving up my 170 m2 workshop, and moving in to a 15 m2 shop in my garage, my old big machines will be sold, giving away or go to scrap metal. If anyone needs a lathe 1.500 kg, 1200 mm between center, its free for pick up, the mini lathe will have to do, later next year a mill will come to it, I will miss the big machines.
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
Now that's what I call a new toy..... but first, what is it for? Somehow I know you will know exactly what to do with it! Enjoy.

A lathe /ˈleɪð/ is a tool that rotates the workpiece on its axis to perform various operations such as cutting, sanding, knurling, drilling, or deformation, facing, turning, with tools that are applied to the workpiece to create an object with symmetry about an axis of rotation.
So ideal for making, in this case, small pieces for TTs, like shafts, bushings, washers, special screws to name a few, any machinable material can be worked in it. With some tweeks it can be used as a mill and a rectifier as well.
This is cheep Chinese machine, a lot of adjustments and quality upgrades has to be made, mechanical the Chinese doesnt seam to understand that even a small screw has to be made to a certain standard and of good material.

I see. perhaps I am best served sticking with my Dremel tool, Jeweler's polishing motor, and ultrasonic cleaner. They work for me, but now seriously, Soren, that looks like a great tool.
I hope you use/enjoy it to the MAX! When it arrives just maybe a cuba will be in order.

I have been thinking of upgrading to a new TV lately primarely beacuse my BV11-40 is getting a bit small by todays standards. Initially I was interested in the Horizon 48" but I was turned down by the android software and the bluetooth only remote control. Had a chat with my dealer and he did not recommend going from the BV11 to the Horizon either. In his opinion it would be a down grade in overall image quality. Instead he offered me a very reasonable deal on a swap on my 11-40 for a 11-55 with black frame and HDD on easel stand. This set is similar to my 40"-version bought right after the release. I still adore this TV and I am thrilled to get its big brother. I might even be getting it in time for Christmas

My latest addiction is PUC management
I purchased an Xbox One S and the appropriate bracket from STB for the rear of the Avant, so I can steam 4K Netflix and watch 4K BR Discs.
Instead of utilising the Toshiba BR which I so love, I now will use the Xbox and the PUC (which is downloadable on STB site).
I did d/l the PUC and it works a treat.
In this back room I am planning a mini renovation - which means the Avant may move to the front room and I will have a BV on a wall where the sliding door currently is and (will move).

OK, to be fair none of these is a new addition, but it is the first time they have been gathered together and are actually being used as intended, to play music. All items including the S45.2 speakers were a gift from my very generous friend in California. Just click on the photo and you can see the whole image. (Sorry about that.)
Just collected and cleaned up ready for Christmas (boy, removing that glass panel sticky stuff was a nightmare!), as a gift for my father-in-law.

Very nice indeed, and a GREAT gift.
Some folks here at BeoWorld don't find the BM 4500 am "important" Beomaster, but I find it a SUPERB amp and I know your father-in-law will love it. So many wonderful features and the sound quality is remarkable.

Oh Jacques, I am REALLY impressed! You "got" me with the Beomaster 8000 and Beocord 9000, but those speakers, I am genuinely jealous.
Well, these were a kid's dream. I listened to them for the first time in 1980 and they were a shock back then. I said to myself, "One day, Jacques, one day...” It was as if a good fairy had remembered that old dream of mine. Oh, and I have a very understanding wife too!
One third of a century later they are finally here, along with the 33/303/FM3/wooden sleeve (NOS).
I think they are my final speakers, although I still have my B&O stuff of course, and will never part with it.

I can see (with NO effort) how those speakers would be a kid's dream or a "big" kid's dream as well. Those dreams are important, we need to nurture them..... and the speakers as well.

After more than a 3 year wait my Beolab5000 and Beomaster 5000 arrived yesterday.
You guys may remember this Beolab as the subject of Soren's unbelievably stimulating year long restoration that had so many of us glued to our computer screens. I for one lived vicariously with each new set-back and development.
Here are the boxes that arrived.
This is how Soren packs. If you missed his post, the packing was incredible.
The Beolab 5000 and Beomaster 5000 arrived at about 2 degrees so I thought it best to let them warm up slowly..... drove me absolutely crazy. Like a kid that couldn't open his Christmas gifts. None the less I stole many a look at them sitting quietly in the dining room.
Today was the day to try them out and they didn't disappoint.
Of course, as I was both nervous and excited there was an endless stream of operator mistakes which added to the "drama." With all the connections made, there was no sound. I was crestfallen. Checked all the connections and nothing. Then is "occurred" to me to depress the speaker buttons and SOUND!
Weak RCA connectors from the Beogram 8000 caused a lot of NOISE, but that didn't take long to remedy.
The AKAI 8-Track had virtually no volume, but the Beolab has adjustments for everything and that to was taken care of easily.
This is really a dream come true and I thank Soren from the bottom of my heart for making it a reality.
That looks great! Congratulations, not jealous at all... i hope they worth the wait. What speaker setup Arne using with it?

very nice piece of vintage stuff and with great renovation history (I thing the most famous Beolab and Beomaster 5000 on this forum).
Hi, hi....I did the same mistake, when renovated Beolab 5000 came to me (not depressed SPKRS buttons). I was frustrated for a while (5 minutes circa), but feelings after ...you can imagine by yourself.

Both of us will have say thank you to Henrik (Square4) without him giving me the 2nd set for a symbolic sum, I would have kept yours for myself,

I have really enjoyed the music quality thus far..... but I also love the look.
The next thing I need to configure an FM antenna as none of my varied antenna connects work. My affection for the Seattle classical station (KING-FM 98.1) has been well documented here and although the Beomaster receives it but not quite in stereo, so I need an antenna.
As for the comment on my Beomaster 4500, I guess I should have seen that one coming. Geez guys, what is this dislike for the 4500? Personally I find it an excellent amp with a host of options not available on earlier B&O products. For volume power it doesn't compare to a Beomaster 8000 (like yours Jacques) the Beolab 5000, or the Beomaster 4400, for that matter. Hey, but that quart holds a quart is all we can expect of it.
Note to Jacques: Yes sir, I know you were just kidding, but these amps are kind of like my children and my buddy in France called one of them "ugly." Papa gotta defend his kids!
After this 3 year wait I still don't believe the Beolab 5000/Beomaster 5000 pair is really here. No kidding at this, I got up this morning, looked over and thought, what do yuou know, I didn't dream that. A very nice way to begin the day!

Oh gosh, there you have me. I am seriously speaker challenged around here. The BL/BM 5000 pair are running MC120.2 speakers combined with truly ratty Fisher XP66 speakers. The Fishers make up for the 120.2's feeble bass response.So, so far, so good.
I have 4 amps with no speakers, which is frustrating. I have looked locally for years Craigslist and Used Victoria but this being an island, there is little available and what is here is priced 3 to 4 times the actual value. Also watch on eBay, but not all that much comes up, and what does is either battered or horrendously over-priced.
Two amps are out for repair (Beomaster 1600 and Beomaster 1000) and my Beomaster 4400 is sitting near electronic death on my dining room table. Once all three are repaired, I am not sure what the heck I am going to do.
I have been searching for a pair of MS150's but I have been unsuccessful. Every so often I spot a pair of S75's (one of my favourites) but each time the ones I find look like they feel of the back of a truck.
