My son, now studying in Singapore, would surprise me for Christmas, I told him sometime ago, that my first B&O set was, BM, BG, Beovox 1000. And that I wanted to get this again. He found a BM and a BG 1000 on DBA in DK. His computer went bad, hard drive crashed, and as he couldnt remember some of his passwords, he had to use my mail account to finish the deal, and I found out.

Shortly before this I told Martin that I was looking for this and he was searching, and had found a BM 1000, but not yet told me, sorry Martin.

The BM and the BG arrived to my sister in Horsens DK last week. Well packed and looks good, well nearly good.Unsure

The speed selector for the BG is loose, see below. Did any of you see a failure like this before ?? Getting a little itchy now.

I wont get the items over here before January, so now I will have to dream and suffer until then.

The BG

The speed selector

No problem, Søren.  Laughing

To me it looks like someone tried to fit the speed selector knob the wrong way around.
Rotate it to suit the key, same with the fine speed settings knob inside the speed selector, press it down
and I'm sure it will be fine.

I see that now Martin, and I hope there is no broken plastic pieces there.

Yesterday, I retrieved a beautiful Beogram 4002 in Linköping. Entirely operational and with an appearance that is clear over average. I plan to use it along with Beomaster 4000/Beocord 5000/Beovox 4703. The pickup as followed is a MMC20E, the simplest in the MMC20x-famiily. Then I do not have any such previous it will be interesting to compare the listening impression with others types.

Yes, you are right. I mixed them up. The "E" doesnt seem to be as a bad choise that I thought.

@all vintage fans

Look what I found:

(IMO) the first B&O Catalog with price list for the Austrian market!

Though there is no date on it I am sure it is from 1965 because some models in it are named 611.

Here one side of it.

The prices are in Austrian Schilling (14 ATS = 2 DM = 1 €) but I am sure you can find some interesting information in it? Wink

Very interesting, thanks for posting!

I can't believe how expensive the FM stereo option was on these - 20-25% of the price of the unit itself! Surprise

For me the biggest suprise was that the BM900M was more expensive then the Tube Hi-Fi Stereo Amplifier!

And the BM1000 even more!

I know the new generation of  "All Transistor" radios was the hype but did not expect that.

In that brochure the Hifi Amp is obviously the blue fronted 608, I would have thought it would have been the black fronted 610 by this time. I have British brochure from 1964 which has the very late valve stuff along with the early transistor items and the hifi amp is the black fronted 610. Was the 608 for mainland Europe and the 610 for export? I know my 610 was originally purchased in South Africa.

beaker:

Hi beaker,

sorry for a late reply.

Yes, I think you are right. The 610 version (I call it "Black magic woman") was the export version also with another type of knobs (IMO more elegant as the plastic knobs on the 608). But the 608 was also available not only in the '62 and 63' catalougues (as the model number would say) but also in '64 and obviously in some countries in the '65 too. The 2 or 3 versions of conection plugs could also means that the blue one (608) was not only for the danish market but also for some other markets too. Maybe the black beauty was made for UK and USA markets.

I am sure we have here few experts who could help us with this issue. It was discused before but I am still not sure about the concrete answer...

My 608 is blue fronted and was bought in Dublin probably via London. It has the dealer's sticker on it.

There is blue with Danish text, blue with English text and black with English text. Is there black with Danish text? They with Danish text should of course be suitable for the domestic market while they with English text can have been sold as well in Denmark that outside Denmark.

Found a BeoMaster 8000 + Beolab Terminal this evening! (Sorry for the mess in the background - we could play "Which B&O products can you spot in this picture?")

It lights up and it can play, but left channel is very quiet and distorts like h*ll - it balances out when I put on mono though!? Does anybody have an idea what could be wrong here?

There's also a bit of distortion in the upper range, one of the speaker selection switches is stuck and a LED segment is missing, so it's gonna need a bit of TLC at some point, but I have a few other things to finish first (BM4400, M100 etc.)

Sound very interesting, Wouter! IMO the BeoVision AV9000 is the most beautiful (CRT) TV ever made! Maybe that's why I have two of them. Stick out tongue

With a pair of BeoLab 8000s it's the perfect design combination. I love how the lines of them match.

Does your system come with a MPAV9000 as well?

Dennis, it did! Havent tried to connect everything yet as i did not have the time this weekend but I will next week. Unfortunately it did not came with the beolink 5000, so I hope I will find one of those soon :-) But it does work with my BL 7000! I completely agree with you, the AV 9000 is beautiful! I didn't thought i would like the beolab 6000's but the whole system just looks amazing. It is unbelievable for an AV setup that is 20 years old! The only problem is how to connect my airport express to the system as the mpav 9000 does not have an aux connection. I'm thinking about building an auto select splitter between the tv/airport and the beolab 8000's...
