Hi all. I just received a pair of Beovox S45 (mark I). I'm going to give them a checkup and cleaning etc. So how do you open them up with the least risk of damage?
Another question: Where can you buy the female DIN loudspeaker connectors that fit the Beovoxes? I have a couple of cables for my CX50s and CX100s but the S45s came without cables, unfortunately.
Take the bass unit out - it is a nice SEAS unit with multiple screws. You can access the cross over that way.

Peerless, actually. And glue the magnets while you have the woofers out.

Hi, how to get to it Peter already told you, Martin gave you advice on what to do with the woofers and the connectors you can get at B&O dealer or good electronic store quiet cheaply. they're just standard DIN 2 pin speaker connectors, the large pin be N ;)

So you start by prying the front off? Any special technique for that? How is it held in place?

My mistake - is it the S75 which is SEAS?
Yes,
The fronts are held in place by small pegs. They can bind immensely.Pull right outwards on the thick part at the top, work your way carefully downwards. There are six pegs in total, one in each corner plus two down the center.
Thanks Martin. I managed to get it off without damage to the front or the aluminum edge. A steel ruler is your friend.
The crossover has three 16 uF/40V capacitors. Is it a good idea to use the bipolar electrolytics, that are available nowadays?
No reply about the bipolar caps, but a forum search seems to indicate that they are recommended.

Use only bipolar caps in crossovers, if you cant get the right sizes (uF) put 2 in parallel, or get a set from Martin with instructions.
