I have inherited the great beogram 9500 with a MMC2 cartridge.
Three questions I need help with:
a. Is the MMC2 an MM or MC cartridge
b. If I want to connect the beogram 9500 to an amplifier with MM/MC input (not B&O) using an adapter from DIN to cinch the soun dis horrible (both variants MM and MC). Long time ago I heard the DIN cables have a different connection order than standard DIN - might this be the issue?
c. In case the needle and/or cartridge need to be renewed, does anyone no sources where to buy those - or service points in Germany, Cologne/Bonn area?
Any feedback and support is very much appreciated!
Many thanks in advance!
a-This cartridge is moving coil mc type.
b-you neef a preamplivier with riaa encoding!
c-have a look to : schallplattennadeln.de
The MMC2 is a functional replacement for the MMC1 MMC3 MMC4 and MMC5 (MMC1 is top of the line, MMC5 is bottom.) The needle on your existing cartridge is not user replaceable. Keep your old one in case you ever want the tip replaced someday at about 2/3rds the cost of a new one.
This wonderful cartridge will work in any of the following Bang & Olufsen models:

sorry, of course the MMC 1-5 systems are moving magnet systems
The MMC2 is NOT an MC cartridge, nor are any of B&O's MMC2x or MMCx cartridges. 'MMC' stands for Moving Micro Cross and they are actually closest to a Moving Iron design.
However, from a phono stage compatibility point of view, they should be treated as MMs.
buy the riaa-kit from soundsheavenly and connect it to a regular aux input on your amplifier.
"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"

Now that's something I've never seen before! How does it sound?

Thanks leogoeswild!
Yes, this pre-amp kit includes all cables and instructions, this is correct to link the MMC (Moving Micro Cross, a variation of the moving magnet design) cartridge in your Beogram to any amplifier that doesn't already have a phono pre-amp stage fitted:-
https://soundsheavenly.com/beogram-record-players/pre-amp-bundle-for-bo-beogram-and-all-turntables – please choose the “Twin RCA plugs” output option for a non-B&O amplifier.
I was really interested to see the special "one-off" moving coil B&O cartridge in Saint Beogrowler's pictures, I am very jealous!
Kind regards, Steve.
