Hi all,

I recently purchased a CD50 with the common fault of slow reading of CDs and playback starting late in track  1 or 2. I’m guessing the motor may need taking apart, cleaning and relubricating. Can anybody tell me how to take it apart please?

Thanks

Dan

Hi,

I guess no news is good news, isn't it?

Probably not. I bought 3 parts unit cd50s after my first failed motor repair.

Oh? I didn’t find it that difficult at all really. What happened then?

It was a spring on the CD clamper. I think it was damaged or missing or something. Sure is a nice sounding CD player. The Sorens tutorial is fantastic.

After how long I spent with the first one unable to fix it, I thought having several in front of me would help (which it did, I fixed all of them). I did a recapping on the first one even and so much watching and watching and adjusting the motor for days.

I had to replace that spring too, it had been extended. But yes, it is critical for correct clamping.

Almost six years after - how time flies - my CD50 (with remote Sir!) still works perfectly.
