Hi All,
Changing a Virgin Tivo ( happy with picture quality) to the new V6 box - which is hdmi only, so planning to use these two items to concoct an HMDI - Scart conversion kit.
The BV5 is perfect for the room, picture is as good as ever - and we are happy with it, so just want continued service with new box.

The scart cable was hardest to find - I guess their days are numbered.

( you could toggle between RGB and composite on the old SKY scart set up menus to see the diffeence)

I am not convinced that this will work.
Firstly the converter box is hdmi to component (not composite) or VGA, neither of which can be transmitted over SCART.
Secondly the 'phono to RGB scart' that you selected has scart as the input and RGB phono outputs. It can do nothing with 'component' signals and is converting in the wrong direction anyway.
Perhaps others will chip in with a better solution, but an hdmi to composite converter may be a better solution, albeit with reduced quality. In addition, you possibly need to make sure that whatever you use is hdcp compliant (although I am not sure whether the V6 output includes hdcp - perhaps it does for some content.)

Im not sure either, hence the post.
BUt - early SKY boxes had RGB sockets, labelled the same as the phono sockets on the little convertor box - Pb, Pr, Y - B&O TV's worked using these sockets - 100%.
The Scart should be an input ( TV) and the phono plugs go to the output on the convertor box, which is then HDMId to the V6.
If it doesn't work, it can go back to Amazon.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
I used one of these for my HDMI only FireTV to my BV5
And one of these to connect to the TV via the scart
All from Amazon. It worked brilliantly.
I'm currently using it with my Beocenter 1 TV and FireTV.
PS. You need to ensure any converter is HDMI in and not HDMI out as my first purchase was the wrong way. You need to check it with the scart adapter too as they can also be in or out. The one I have has a switch on top the says IN/OUT .

Yes - these will work - but I want to avoid Composite video ( the yellow, CVBS) in favour of the (better) RGB component video signal.
I know that RGB out on digiboxes via a scart - scart cable is better quality , so looking to keep this picture improvement in the HDMI to scart conversion.
So the connection will be digibox > HDMI - SCART ( RBG) > TV - rather than digibox > HDMI - SCART (CVBS) > TV , if that makes sense.
Sorry but I still don't think that converter box will work. It outputs component as opposed to RGB. A component signal is not transmitted over SCART.

Answer: No it won't work as HMDI to RGB Scart, its only HDMI to VGA / HDMI to Component cables
I'm unsure, as component and RGB seems to be interchangeable terms - and I know for a fact that the Pb, Pr, Y outputs on early DVD players and SKY boxes ( as pictured above) work into the RGB enabled scart sockets on the avant chassis ( which is what the BV5 MK1 is, for AV inputs).

I tried this converter to feed my Avant 32 RF MKII two months ago: https://www.amazon.com/Musou-Component-Converter-Adapter-Coaxial/dp/B01F6URXYY. It has Component Video (YPbPr) output. Avant has component RGB input. I was unable to get picture.
My understanding was that both are component signals, but different anyway. RGB is red, green and blue computer convention. YPbPr is luminance, difference between blue and luminance and difference between red an luminance and is a broadcast convention.
When I had my BV5 I tried to connect a Silver ATV 1 using the component out from the ATV with scart converter and got nothing. I tried many suggestions over a few weeks with no luck. That is why I originally bought the HDMI adapter I suggested in my earlier post. In the end I wanted the FireTV so I got rid of the ATV and attached the FireTV to the adapter.

I took a look at the link for the scart to RGB cable and at first look it may be wired the wrong way as it says
I think you are looking for RCA in to scart out. It may work but I had trouble with a scart to composite that was wired the opposite way to what I required.
The Scart canble was fine ( got audio, so it was the right 'direction'
BUT - no picture.
I didn't think it would, but worth a try, just in case the RGB the little convertor box produced was the same RGB as that in a fully wired scart.
V6 box currently in a different room, original TIVO with the BV5.
Forgive me if I’m wrong, but I think that part of the problem is that anything you view off your STB is also being transmitted via HDCP...and the boxes you have shown can’t strip the HDCP protection from the video signal.
however, devices exist and can be purchased to get at that signal. HDFury makes everything that I think you may need. Check out their devices. They’re more expensive, but it’s the only way I know to get protected signal from TV.
