I have an ongoing project, and I am using an Ouverture for this.

A lot of parts I do not need. I at least have a working cd mechanism if someone needs it.

Some other parts also, like the plastic parts and other stuff. Tell me what you need.

I tried the cassette player before disassembly, and I only got sound on right channel.

What is not for grabs is:

the power supply, inputs, ir-board and display.

Send me a pm with address. Is the PCB the first board that the wires attaches to?

Same here, some experimenting and ejecting the tape mechanism.

Need still some tweaking as the upc expects signals from the tape, which isn't there anymore.

So, another tape deck available ..

How do you reprogram the display to show CAST?

Do you know if there would be any way to connect a Gramofon to the CD-input and make the remote skip tracks?

By scrolling through the software and looking for TAPE and modify that. with CAST then reprogram the chip (if it's a Xicor). For private use btw.

Great projects you guys have there! Yes - thumbs up

Would you mind to open a new thread like "Ouverture/2300/2500 modding"? Highly interested!

The first challenge will be to let the micro think that there is still an CD player which delivers data about it's status. Without that the Ouverture won't open the audioinputs and shuts off after a while.

I assume that the Gramofon is used with an app, so to control via Beo4-Ouveture-Gramofon will be the next challenge as there isn't a kind of remote that comes with the gramofon that you can  simulate.

Still thinking over about how to interact with the processor.

I can rebuild a small part from the Tape PCB to simulate the presence of it, or use a Arduino to make it a bit more sophisticated and let the microprocessor know when the music stopped from the Google dongle, so it shuts off automatically.

With this mod, you still will have the CD and the extra A.AUX input for another source at the back.

When completed we could start a topic with the complete modification.

What is needed to connect to the software and reprogram the chip? I have no idea how that works, so teaspoon feeding please :P

Your project looks great btw :)

@Leogonewild

Pull the Eprom (27C512 ?) and dump the content with an EPROM programmer (ALI is your friend :-) )

In a Hexeditor find TAPE and replace with CAST, depending on how the software is organized you may even be able to replace with more letters.

...Or whatever else you can think of Smile

The Cast picture shows checksum is not an issue, so simply program a new chip, leaving the old as a backup!

This trick, unfortunately, doesn't work for e.g. your Penta displays since its a mask-programmed device, meaning you cant dump the content of the internal ROM.

Since B&O now wants to be seen as the Upcycling company, perhaps it would be prudent if the mask programmed software for the old classics would be made available, otherwise, the whole Beocreate idea could easily be construed as just - fluff!

Looks like a lot of stuff to get into for a newbie like me. Could be fun, but I don't think I would ever use that knowledge ever again.

Would it be possible for one of you to make a chip for me?

That what I was thinking when i "customized" a DOS 2.11 disk more than 30 years ago Smile

Tell you what,- I would be glad to give it try this weekend, and I will let you know,- we are all Beolovers  Smile

Incidentally, I might have something else you could use,- The Beochrome, more to come!

If the A.AUX could be changed to CHROMECAST(preferred) or CAST

and PHONO could be changed to SPOTIFY, that would be awesome!

If there is A.TAPE2 in there, maybe it could be changed to BEOCREATE or CREATE Stick out tongue

Very excited to hear about the Beochrome Lets have a Party !!!

@Beobuddy (cc: Leogoeswild)

Are we going to have an issue with SW version if I make a chip for Leogoeswild... ?

Wouldnt it be even cooler if we could propagate the change to the PENTA display,- any ideas?

Would it be possible to build new displays for the Penta`s?

The ICEpower amps I have built into them has unregulated output.
