PowerLink>Ethernet adapter availability?

I've seen somewhere on what is now called the "archivedforum", that B&O has a small cable accessory which allows to adapt Powerlink to ethernet cables.

As my new flat has some ethernet cables inside the walls, this adapter would be ideal for my rear speakers. I've asked my dealer and he said "not available". As it's only a bit of cable (that I can do myself if it's really not available), can someone confirm that this is not available? Steve at Soundsheavenly doesn't have it in its listing too, but he surely can make it!

Otherwise, maybe someone can give me the product code (to give it to my dealer), and... The price (if it's too expensive, I think that I can make it myself)!

I think it will have to be custom made right now.  However, if it not CAT7 in the wall, it will not work, correctly.

Keep in mind that the cables in the wall need to be CAT 6 or CAT 7 and they have to be S/FTP type
cables (= Screened/Shielded cable with separately Foiled Twisted Pairs)

PS:

Keep in mind that you can use CAT 6/7 cables as a replacement for PL-Cables only in a "passive" way
"point to point" - no switches / routers are  allowed between the PL-out of the TV and the PL-in of your speaker.

Browse in the old forum the topics "NIC" "Network Link" "New Installation Concept" "BeoNet" ... 

I am guessing the cat cable is either daisy chained around the rooms or wired to a central point. If you cannot use it, why not "tie on and pull in" the correct cable?

And thanks valve1, I think I will just pull in a powerlink cable through the wall, there is some space remaining in the tubes...

PS : why should the ethernet cable be CAT6/CAT7 cables and S/FTP, as I'm quite sure a standard Powerlink cable doesn't meet this level of specifications??? That seems to be cable mythology...

No myth - it's the shielding, not the bandwidth, that counts in the "analogue world" of PowerLink and MasterLink ...

A standard Cat 5 or 5e cable has no shielding between the twistet pairs an will very likely pick up hum etc. on
longer distances. 

B&O urges the use of CAT 7 as these cables are always S/FTP types and fulfill, if properly done, all shielding
reqirements perfectly ...     

 

As far as I know, the powerlink cables have only an outside shielding, and no shielding between the pairs... Or maybe it was an old model that I "dismantled".

Recent PL-cables have a diameter of approx 5mm and are double shielded.

Exeption is the thin 2,6mm MK3 version for short distances.

The discontinued 3,5 mmm fully mounted MK2 cable also had separate schielding
for audio and PL-data to avoid crosstalk between audio and PL-data.
