I was thinking about how sometimes my settings aren't right, but it could be that im listening too low?

I generally listen to at 30 and movies at 40.

Should i be listening louder?

What volume do you listen?

Any answer will be useless, as there are so many factors involved: source of the signal and factory level, BV model, loudspeakers connected and level settings, distance to the BV and size of the room ...

For example, on my BV11-55 in the bedroom, volume setting at 35 in movie mode through the inbuilt speaker, I have to setup the BV7-55+BL7.6 from the living room at 50 to have the same sound level. Both sources are the same: a HUMAX Satellite decoder connected by HDMI with volume setting at the maximum.

Oli is right ... especially when you include the age of my 👂🏻 👀👂🏻

We typically have voice at 48

And big movies at up to 70

My BV6-26, 3m away, is usually set to 30 (sometimes, I crank it up to 36-38...). And that's enough to watch (and listen to Wink) TV at any time of the day.

NB: the volume of the external DVB decoder is set at max!

I sit 4.5 meters from my BV12-65, and BL18 pair in the lounge.

Generally, TV at volume 50-53, louder for movies (largely to hear vocals more clearly), about 60-65.

Music varies, depends on mood, but closer to 50.

My bedroom Avant is 3.5 meters away from viewing position.

No supplementary fronts like the lounge has.

Therefore not as powerful a setup.

TV at volume 40-44.

Hope that helps.

I like it louder than most, as a general rule.

45 year old ears, for the record.

Our BV11 is typically on 50 for watching an SD broadcast, and has to be raised to 58 to get the same volume on an HD broadcast. Switching from HD to SD can be quite a shock if you forget about prior volume adjustment.

My settings adjustment (down assuming that the L & R settings were relative to the centre has actually (as others predicted) improved on hearing and this week we seem to not need to raise the volume to hear the dialogue.

Not sure if the BV scale is in Db.

I am referring to the settings in the 4th picture I posted a couple of days ago

BV8-32 - usually I have it at 60 and I am 54

There was a time when I had surround sound with my old Avant and the sound of some films was dreadful as the producers were more interested in creating loud noises to show off the surround sound - to the extent that you could barely hear dialogue - thankfully things seem much better these days.

Ah. Yes. That’s a little bit diff on the Avant and on the Avant it’s measured in db 👍🏻
