Hi there,

So I bought my Beolab 17's about 4 years ago and with the idea of expanding to add a 19 and then hopefully 18's.

Well finally I walked in an purchase the 18's but need to pick them up.

Now my question is, which solution would you guys recommend.

At the moment my equipment list is:

Beolab Transmitter 1

Beosound Core

Beolab 17's

Beolab 19.

LG OLED B6 TV

Xbox One X

Right now I have, PL from Beosound core to Transmitter 1 and Toslink from TV to Transmitter 1. Xbox to TV via HDMI

However, now I need to add 2 more channels of sound and I need some help choosing between the

Axiim Q UHD - https://axiim.com/products/q-uhd-wireless-media-center?variant=1079261233180

or

Almando Multiplay Surround decoder - https://almando.com/index.php/almando-category/multiplay-surround-decoder/almando-multiplay-surround-decoder.html

I am sort of leaning towards the Almando, but hesitant as the Axiim seems to have a newer interface and can transmit directly to the speakers, but then I lose my Core as I do not think the Axiim has an optical in or a way for me to get the Core through it.

Almando seems a little more function over style and allows a lot of fiddling, but Axiim looks to be more up to date and frequently supported with updates. I think any audio lag passing through the video etc through the Axiim can be countered via app settings.

Hmmm ... I think either solution works, but the Almando lets me keep my core and Transmitter 1 functioning I guess.

What do you guys think?

Mikipedia? ... do you still use the Almando?

Thanks!

Hi SneakyTomato,

I was thinking about it at the time but ended up going with the eclipse. Epsilon20 and I think Svinaik here on the forum do use an almando box. Last time I spoke to epsilon20 he was very happy with his almando box. Iam not sure if he had speakers wired or not though. So maybe give them a DM? From what i’ve seen the almando box is basically set and forget, so that’s good :)

I’ve heard from someone I know that the axiim q works in the tests they did on 17, 18 and 19

The transmitter isn’t a receiver like the axiim is. With the TM you need some sort of AV receiver for the surround sound. You don’t need that with the axiim

Thanks for the quick replies fellas :)

Aussie Michael, I assume you are talking about the TM as in the Transmitter 1 is not a receiver and no the Almando box?

Just double checking. :)
