I just bought a very nice looking BM7000, but when plugged in shows all the display inputs lit up rather than standby as expected.

Is this an easy fix, or an indication of a much more significant problem?

Probably a dead processor and/or/because of power supply failure.
Overvoltage from lightning strike or wrong mains voltage setting perhaps.

Easy? - Depends on how much has burned.
LIghtning strike cases usually means write-off for these models.
- But it could also be as simple as too much ripple on the CPU voltage.

It will have to be diagnosed to know why and how much.
I would start at the low-voltage regulators.

If you bought it as working, I suggest you return it.

Thanks Martin, I did buy it from eBay in working condition. I will sadly have to send it back.

I had that on a 5500 (after years of faultless service) and I found yet another bad cap on the processor board that I had forgotten under the lid. Worth a try methinks!

That said, you could get a partial or total refund if the said working unit was DOA, and get to keep the Beomaster.

Don't attempt repairs yourself, if you are planning to return it if it fails.

Martin, I’m contacting the seller to work on a return. I’m not going to mess with it. Shame too, it’s in great cosmetic condition.
