I have a BV7-55 with BL7-4, BL20s, and BL12-3s. I have been considering upgrading the 20s to 50s. Also have considered replacing the 7 with an Eclipse. Logically the Eclipse seems to make more sense as it is cheaper and is replacing the oldest technology with the newest.

The thing I am wondering about is relative sound improvement between the two options. If I get the 50s, there would be a huge improvement in the front speakers, but perhaps it would be limited by the 7s old technology including the fact that 50s do not exist in the 7s setup menu. If I got an Eclipse, there would perhaps be some all around improvement given the much more advanced sound processing capabilities of the Eclipse.

Any thoughts or opinions?

Thanks!

Why not listen and decide yourself.

Because it is less than convenient to move the Beolab 20s, connect Beolab 50s to the 7, then disconnect and remove the Beolab 50s, remove the Beovision 7, set up an Eclipse, and connect it to the 20s.

While I have had 5s brought in for a demo at my house, and could do the same with 50s, adding an Eclipse to the demo mix is bit more than I want to do.

Weird stuff on the forum. Reposted

As you may be aware, Im running an Eclipse 65 with the BL90s either side.

As with the Avant 55, the Eclipse has excellent sound processing for a Beovision. Far better than the BV7-55 (which I also had and thought it was good but also a large lump of a TV).

Cant dispute the Eclipse as an excellent TV, though the OS control system leaves me wanting. I preferred the form-factor of the Avant 55 (especially hanging on the wall, and the original B&O OS)

I would personally only look to upgrade the Beolabs if to improve my music listening pleasure. Yes, the BL50's will thrash the BL9s and BL7-4s all over town but the existing setup will work well in Video. Certainly big coin for an improved video experience.

For me, I prefer to kill all sound from the Eclipse soundbar in all modes as it definately distracts from the sound of the BL90 phantom image and dont see the BL50s being any different in that sense....so I guess it is what cash you are willing to throw at it, what you really want to improve (music, video or latest tech?)

Beolab 50 is the way to go. I have the beovision 7-55mk1 and my wife has Lg C8 55. I must say that I’m not imprezed with the lg. Not on netflix hd anyway. Beovision 7-55 is to good.

Have you set the beolab 20 as 5:s in the beovision meny. You should, so you don’t cut the base. You only do that if you got a sub.

Beovision 7-55 MK1 red, Beolab 10 red. Beolab 50, all black. Beolab 17 broken ice. Beolab transmitter. Apple tv4 and apple express 2.

Yes. The 20s are set as 5s and the 12-3s are set as 3s with the appropriate adjustment to the distance to adjust for the different delay/processing time that the 12-3s have compared to 3s.
