Does anybody know why almost half of some 100+ photos turn sideways when downloaded onto my profile? (when you click on them on the actual thread they turn and present correctly!)

I'm trying to complete my house renovation thread but sideways photos just look terrible..

Unfortunately an APPLE feature.... The only way i know to strip the (wrongly) embedded info, is a short detour through paint which my take a while with a 100 photos. I am sure there are other ways.

No I emailed them all from my iPhone to my gmail a/c - then saved them onto my pc. Then I logged into Beoworld and added each photo to my profile. None of the saved images are sideways on my pc but almost half appear to turn on one side when downloaded to the Beoworld profile from pc.

Why not add the photos directly from your phone using the iPhone Beoworld app?

Super simple.

Are my pictures ‘sideways’?

If yes - you should use an iPad instead of your pc to follow Beoworld threads ;-))))))))

Yes they were indeed, before you found a remedy....

How should I know? I do not own or use the device in question.

That I know....for sure.

However, I did not change anything - so no hidden remedy here.

No,- but for a while years ago your pictures were upside down or perhaps rotated cant remember.

Both of us know what the issue is so lets just leave it at that,

I really do not want to go trawling through PeterPans treads on a semi defunct danish website. Whistle

No, because that might have been the case with that ‘semi defunc website’ - and is history now.

We are talking Beoworld threads.....this was what the op/Brian meant, I guess.

Brian, I agree because it happens to me and I can't figure it out.

If you all are done fighting, I'll try to explain the reason.

iPads and iPhones don't rotate the pictures they save to the "correct" orientation, they just add an EXIF header which explains the correct orientation for displaying the image. Other phones and most cameras (or their download software) actually rotate the image. Many systems just display the image and don't care about the EXIF info on orientation. So there's a good chance that a photo will be shown sideways (or even upside down if shot on an iPad, you don't usually hold your phone upside down).

Nobody's fighting and most know the reason for this. If it is a bug or feature is down to the usual Apple or Not discussion!

However so far I am the only one you provided a truly "daft", but working, Paint workaround, I am sure there are better ones?

And I dont mean the laconic "go buy an Ipad/phone" advice!

That’s exactly what I ended up doing - going through every photo using paint and saving a second copy.

Just a test.

How many of you see this picture sideways?

Which device do you use for viewing/browsing the Beoworld website site?

Is it different when someone uses the app?

It’s correct for me on the app on both iPhone and iPad.

Correctly on Win/PC but it does not look like native Ipad photo,- Scaled ?

Native Ipad/Iphone picture will always show up rotated, (based on the sensor of course 50%) on my computers.

That photo was taken with my iPad - I don’t remember whether horizontal or vertical.

It was then cropped in the Photos (iPad) app and resized using the PhotoResizer (iPad) app.

Stored to my Dropbox and from there put into the thread using the built-in ‘Options’ -> ‘Add’ -> ‘Choose Archive’, ‘Save’ method.

It could not get more iPadish, I guess 😁
