Hi Guys...
Wondered whether you could assist me..? Ive had spare Beomasters for my 6500 systems, but theyve now all been used up..! I presently have three with issues.
No.1. Sparks and blows plug fuse instantly.
No.2. Does not recognise the MCP at all.
No.3. All works fine, will not allow control of the Beogram with the MCP. Beogram itself..?
Thanks, jay
You mein three different Beograms on one Beomaster, or three Beomaster (different ones)
So sorry..! I mean Beomasters. Apologies, they are all spare ones that I have had.
First of all, please Look if the two extra pins are screwed in the plug of the Beogram.
if not, beogram could not work with the ir-Signal.
must be 7 Pins.
beomaster 1: bigger problem, think needs full service.broken amp section.
beomaster 2: capicators on the ir Board Must be replaced
beomaster 3::maybe everthing is fine, and the two Pins in the plug are missing.
otherwise we have to look further
Shorted mains transformer?
Option setting correct? (Bad backup battery?).Bad or misadjusted IR receiver, bad capacitors or bad CPU.
Missing datalink pin or lead broken off in Beograms DIN-plug or bad protection diode(s) in the Beomaster (if fitted) or cracked solder joints at the Beomasters socket.
Martin
Thank you so much for the response, I'll get chance this weekend to take the BM's apart. Out of interest where is/Which one is the IR board..? I will definitely follow up on your suggestions... Thank you again
Thanks Martin...
1. I've got a spare transformer somewhere I'll exchange that.
2. Any forums/posts on Option setting/Back-up battery/IR issues....?
3. Any info/posts on protection diodes..?
Sorry to bother you with this Martin, your help is deeply appreciated.
The IR Board is screwed directly on the front of the Beomaster.
the pack up Battery is inside the cpu platine. You have to open the metal case to see it.
the cpu Board Sites in the front where most of the cables run into
Thanks again for all the information, are there any details anywhere of the caps values so I can exchange them correctly. Can I buy the battery from Ebay..?
The battery is a normal 3v called 3032, you should find it nearly everywhere.
the value of the caps is written on the old ones. Take some with same specifications.
clean the ir diodes and in about 80% it should work again.
do the recapping before you change the backup battery.
maybe you do not have to change it.
Why I write you should try before changing the backup battery is.
if you change the backup battery the tuning stations will be lost.
i don’t know how to explain in english correctly.
But for example you have a radio station which is really located on 89.0 you will find it after changing the battery maybe on 91.7 and so on.
if you’re fine with that no problem. But if you like to reset the tuner you have to shortcut your Beomaster.
I will not explain how to do that because if you do not really know what you’re doing you will destroy your amp instead of fix it.
if you really want to try you will find how to do that in the service manual on this side.
Thanks again for all of your advise, I will have a go at working on the IR board, battery and solder joints. Youve been very helpful... jay
