Can anyone suggest an adapter or a procedure for connecting 1986 Penta 1 type 6603 speakers to a non-B&O system?

Hi Doc,

There are two ways to do this, and which you choose depends on your output options. If you have a preamp output, you can just connect to the line in RCA connections. If you only have speaker level outputs, you can use a shielded speaker wire connection to a two pin DIN connector. If you use speaker levels, make sure to connect the shield to the negative connection or you will have hum.

Then set the controls on the Pentas for Auto and the appropriate gain based on the signal level of your source component. See Steve from Soundsheavenly and he’ll provide what you need if you’re unsure. He’s a great resource for us.

Thanks Dom!

Yes, you can use these superb speakers with any amplifier or receiver, here are all the options!

If your receiver has pre-out sockets (these MUST be variable, volume-controlled outputs, NOT Tape or Line outputs), then you can connect a pair of Beolab Penta speakers to these sockets using this cable:-

https://soundsheavenly.com/line-in-connection/av-processor-pre-amp-sonos-to-beolab-rca-line-in

However, if your receiver doesn't have pre-out sockets fitted, you can still connect the speakers by one of the two methods below:-

1) Connect two speakers to the headphone socket of the receiver with this cable: http://soundsheavenly.com/line-in-connection/77--trs-2rca-.html

2) Connect two speakers to the red and black speaker terminals on the back of the receiver using this special Attenuated Converter: https://soundsheavenly.com/line-in-connection/power-amplifier-to-beolab-line-in-attenuated-convertor-kit and then use this cable to connect the speakers to the output sockets of the Converter: https://soundsheavenly.com/line-in-connection/av-processor-pre-amp-sonos-to-beolab-rca-line-in

Option 1 is cheaper, but the cable will be visible at the front of the receiver and this will disable any other speakers connected to the receiver.  Option 2 allows the cables to be hidden and the Beolab speakers can be used along with your other speakers for surround sound if required.

Please set both speakers to “Auto” mode using the small switch on the hinged front panel.

If you have any questions, please ask!

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.
