For one of my projects I need to connect an external audio source directly to the Line-IN connector on the amplifier PCB. This is a 3-pin connector of which I added a picture to this post. In the picture, it is the left connecter in the row of three. What I would like to know is what all three pins connect, which is audio left/right, ground and what is the third pin for?
A general handrule is, that the warmest color is right.I'd say;Pin 1 Red - rightPin 2 White - leftPin 3 Black - ground.
You need all three to transfer a stereo signal.

Thanks for your response Martin.
Does this mean the inegrated amplifier is stereo?
I assumed it was mono to have stereo with two speakers combined.
P4-1 is the audio signal that starts the autostart when you are not using PL cables.
P4-2 is the audio signal that goes to the crossover board
P4-3 is ground
Oh sorry, I forgot the channel selection is done upstream from here.
Pin 1 is for the autostartPin 2 is audiosignalPin 3 is ground
Thanks a lot!
There are two things I try to understand:
1. Yes.2. The option switch sets the left/right/Phono input. And yes, P4-1 is only used for switching the amplifier on.
Look in the servicemanual. This is one of very few active speakers that B&O released the circuit diagram for.
You might notice the auto switching, has a way to aggressive (short) time constant. Watching a movie is pretty much impossible, the BL8000 goes on and off all the time. click, click, click....
Thanks all for responding. Happy to have gotten this knowledge from you!
One more thing. Obviously, I am going to use the P4 connector (Pins 1 to 3) for my project. So I will have to order a (3-wire) cable with connector that fits to P4.
Does any one know if this cable has a specific name/type? (Helps me ordering the right one)
Is the P4 connector a "JST 2.0 3-pin" connector?
Would it be possible to use a customized PL cable to circumvent that issue?

Hi Svenni,
Thanks for your suggestion. I am working on connecting the BeoLab 8000's amplifier PCB with my own WiFi & streaming electronics. I need a direct connection internally PCB to PCB, to make my system truly wireless. A PL cable would not work for my purpose.
Thanks anyhow.
Hi Dillen, I know what the numbers mean. But I am not sure which pin has which number.
The connector that goes into P4 has a brown, white and black wire.Having the white wire in the middle, this must be pin-2.
But can you please tell which pin number brown and black are?
Look at the board. It's printed there, visible in your photo.
Brown 1White 2Black (screen) 3
You are right, thanks!
Hi Dante, one thing I don’t understand. P4 is connected to the cinch connector in the stand/foot of the speaker. But the cinch only has two wires (one for Left or Right and one for Ground.
So to what is the 3rd wire connected to (so the Autostart functions)?
