SHAPE is a very beautiful speaker. The traditional surround speaker is too ugly. I want to use SHAPE as the surround speaker for 5.1 system

What should I do?

Is that possible?

thinks!

Buy a complete Shape, including core and everything, and set it up.

Connect a RJ45 cable from the TV to the leftmost (master) amplifier in the setup.

Add the speakers in the TV's speaker group.

Use it. ;)

When using audio-sources from Core, the speaker will use the Band-on-the-wall algorithm. When using Powerlink it will automatically switch to stereo-filter, which is desired for use as surround speakers.

Hi Steven,

Welcome to Beoworld!  Yes, this is possible.  The simplest option is to buy an AV receiver with pre-out sockets (or a Beosystem processor) and split the Shape down into modules for each pair of audio channels.

Each stereo pair of channels (eg. front left and front right) should have one Shape amplifier and four Shape speaker tiles, then they can be configured to work as normal stereo speakers without Beosound Core (the "band on the wall" feature will be disabled).

Please let me know how many channels/Shape tiles you wish to use and which receiver or processor you have.  I can then help you to get everything connected and working.

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.

In the BeoHome in Struer they have a full multichannel Shape setup.

in the pic you only see the fronts, but there are also rears and surrounds and even heights (using the TrueImage processing of the BV Eclipse).

So yes, that is absolutely possible.

I believe it was a product placement tribute to "Zoolander" Smile

In this do you mean the RJ45 always remains cabled ? Or just for the product setup ?

If you use a shape as rears can you also use it as a streaming device when you’re not using it as rears ?

Oh! Dear Steve, thank you very much for your answer

My purpose is not to use BEOVISION, but to use other brands of TV, such as SONY. LAB18 is used for the main speaker, and SHAPE is used for the center speaker and surround speaker, which looks very beautiful

The preamplifier USES ONKYO, transmitter 1 and receiver 1 to form a complete wireless system

Is that ok?

Well, the Core will be connected by optical and USB, while the TV is connected via Powerlink. Not just through setup.

Introduced in software 1.6.31769 a few months back :) Please take a look here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8b5h2aeuu25h8y2/BeoSound%20Shape%20TV%20speakers.pdf?dl=0

If that is your usecase, Steve's a bit more unofficial solution might be the right thing for you.

Thank you C

I got a bit confused as when i read as a surround speaker, i thought of WISA straight away

As i now know the Shape is not WISA, of course a direct connection is required with your television (for my use case)

Appreciate your feedback and informative PDF

Cheers

Reading between the lines that means to me you could use a receiver 1 or a couple to take the place of the physical power link then

2 recievers (1 receiver = 1 channel = same channel on both L+R wire in the powerlink cable).

For that exact reason you'll also need special cables OR a modified 2 splitter (the latter is the solution I prefer).

Hi,

Yes, you need two Receiver 1s for stereo sound, I can build the specially wired cables to get both left and right channels correctly to the speaker (the same cables are often used by customers who want to make Beolab 2 wireless).

Kind regards, Steve.

FWIW:  If I was going to purchase and use Shape for rear-channel(s) speakers, I'd probably purchase another set of AudioEngine's wireless adapters.  For several years, I've used one of their products (1/transmitter, 2/receivers ) to provide rear L&R to my BL6000s.  A little finicky, but it's worked well.  Disclosure: I haven't seen or priced B&O's Transmitter product.
