Hi MM,
The cable for wired stereo pairing of the Balance is one that I have tested, there is nothing available from B&O dealers as far as I am aware (unless they get it from me!)
Kind regards, Steve.
Hi Steve
Could you post a link to that specific cable - like you otherweise always use to do, please.(One with RJ45 for connecting to a BV, the Essence MK2 or the Core)
Might be interesting for buyers of the Balance to use for a test....or for daily use ;-)

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Does anyone knows which Bluetooth remote work with the BS Balance or when a new model is available? From what I’ve read, no current B&O Bluetooth remote can control the BS Balance…

No support for the current BT remotes for the Balance.
The ‘new’ (Halo) remote will probably be working more over the network for the Balance.....I guess.
But since there are no informations there, it’s just guessing.

No problem! Please use this cable set (as per Beolab 4PC) and an RJ45 splitter to use 2 x Beosound Balance in stereo for a wired connection from an Essence or Core (please add a note to say that you are using the cables with the Balance and I will ensure that these are wired correctly for your needs):-

sorry for the confusion, the question was about a new remote control and not a new Balance

That certainly would be a (small) patch on the wound....since I am a Spotify Connect user.
Today I ordered one.
My dealer, Klang & Design Berlin, had a comment on the Beolink issue:
《AIRPLAY 2 AND CHROMECAST WILL BE THE BASIS IN THE FUTURE.
Bang & Olufsen always found a way to ensure that a product in the customer's home is preserved and functions for a long time, challenging the limits imposed by product obsolescence. Therefore, all existing products will continue to be equipped with Beolink and will of course continue to receive regular software updates.
The Beosound Balance will be introduced without Beolink, but will still be able to interact seamlessly with the entire portfolio of 18 Flexible Living speakers and TV audio products via Airplay 2 and Chromecast.
Existing customers can of course continue to use Beolink on their current equipment, but if they connect a Beosound Balance to the system, we recommend using Airplay 2 or Chromecast. With AirPlay 2 or Chromecast you have the freedom of choice, as you can listen to the music of your favorite music provider and continue using your favorite app.》
If posted twice because someone else has already written something about it, I apologize,
Ulrike

steve1977: I’m not yet, but would consider to switch from deezer to spotify. Is there a list, which NL devices are equipped with spotifyconnect. Would spotifyconnect support my favorite “tap to join” feature? Is spotifyconnect expected to be around for more? I somehow remember that spotify may abandon it?

Good question, this last one.
However, nobody has an answer to that!
Basicly all the newer devices/version of the devices are without support for Spotify Connect - that started with the M3.
But the BS Core (still) has it.
You can only libk Spotify Connect to another product with support for Spotify Connect.
If the Balance really should get Spotify Connect support, you won’t benefit much from it, if you have some of the other newer devices/versions.
With an Essence MK2 you can (partly) use it as an integrated part of the Bang & Olufsen app and add a BV from the BV11generation to the Spotify stream.....as an example.
This can’t be the case with the Balance........since there is no B&O app to control anything there and no touch to join button on the device.
In case of the BS Balance I can’t really see what the benefit of using the Connect feature of Spotify compared to Spotify via CC or AP2 could be.
Let’s wait and see, what they mean by adding support for Spotify Connect to the Balance.
Not much chance for adding a ‘join’ experience through that, I guess.
This thread needs more pictures. Here's a lamp that's closer than those Ikea things posted: The JWDA lamp from Menu Design of Denmark. JWDA == Jonas Wagell Design & Architecture, a Swedish firm: https://jwda.se/cat/menu/
(Note: It's also KeepOn's favorite lamp:-)
Basically this design language is borrowed from the work of Hans Coper, who is considered one of the UK's leading potters of the second half of the twentieth century.
His experimental works were consisting mainly in tones of white, brown, yellow, brown and black.
Inspired by the works of Constantin Brancusi and Alberto Giacometti, Coper invested a great deal of attention to the proper relationship between the object and its pedestal.

Wow Ulrike, this is wonderful - thanks!
So I actually like how Balance sounds, well I was only able to "listen" it in YouTube videos of Mikipedia and Henrik but still sounds like it might replace my BL17s potentially. But I feel I need to wait first what Beoremote Halo brings and see will it be perhaps a convenient "streamer panel" for the Balance (and other products potentially). Because I will for sure not buy a product that has to be controlled by a mobile app exclusively and has no remote control option.
Hi Steve,
Hope you are well. I bought a Balance and wanted to use it with my 4K 40” Samsung TV as a speaker for that as well as to play music to it. I already have an optical audio cable from my old speaker system (which has the D shaped ends but also has connectors/adapters that would allow it to go into a 3.5mm port such as on the balance), is this all I need?
Also, I have set up the balance using the B&O app and the Google Home app but the microphone isn’t working it seems and Google Home app isn’t recognising it as an Assistant enabled speaker, I have raised this with B&O and am eagerly awaiting their feedback as I’m keen to get it working.
Interestingly the Beosound 1 we have has coloured dots on the speakers icon in Google Home app which I think indicates the Assistant features, but the Balance doesn’t appear to be the same.
Kind regards,
Suneet Julka
Just to be curious, what you thinking about the bass in it? And how much better you think it is against beosound 1?
and overall are you satisfied with it
That’s the first thing I checked. Also, I know it’s not off as the mic icon on the top is white.
Are you sure you have the Google Assistant version?
Just like BS1 and BS2, the BS Balance is available with and without the Google Assistant. Availability is market dependent, if you order on the bangolufsen.com both versions are available.

Hi Suneet,
Thanks for your enquiry (and for your email, which I replied to this morning!). Yes, the optical cable with the 3.5mm mini-Toslink adapter should be all you need to connect the TV. I am awaiting confirmation from B&O as to whether the optical input of the Balance is enabled in all countries from the launch date, but as far as I am aware this should generally be enabled and ready to use.

Hi Suneet Julka,
I'd take a look at the invoice and see what exactly it says:
For me it is Beosound Balance GVA
GVA = Google Voice Assistant.
Without GVA there will be no voice assistant.

Can you make sure that the Balance is on the same network?
The coloured dots don't indicate assistant features, here are my devices, only the Balance has assistant features, the others have none.

Steve at Sounds Heavenly: andybandy: @steve at sounds heavenly have you try the optical connection to a 3 part tv? are we sure we dont have delay or lipsync here? Since you say in the video you can use the balance as a tv speaker. Hi andybandy, I haven't had a chance to try this myself yet, but B&O's design team have told me this will be possible. I hope to be able to confirm the latency via the optical input in the coming weeks. Kind regards, Steve.

Have tried it now with optical toslink/toslink mini jack.
Works flawlessly with no latency/delay.
Hi Ulrike,
Thanks for your suggestion and it turns out you were right, I ordered the non GVA version by mistake.
Have spoken to B&O and they are arranging for it to be returned and refunded, I have ordered the correct one now from one of the UK dealers.
Any idea what the dots on the speaker icon in Google Home indicate or signify?
Regards,
Suneet
Thanks for the update Steve, please let us know what B&O say regarding if it is enabled or not by default and if not how/when it can be enabled.

I guess the dots on the speaker icons in Google Home indicate Chromecast-built-in.
The icon above "Kueche" means a Chromecast Audio dongle, not built-in.
Aussie Michael:I can’t even see a mention on the b&o website that there is a normal version and a GVA version
If you - on the B&O website - go to the section Speakers -> view all, you can see both versions....and order.
However, if you go further down to watch the product sheet, you will find only information on the GA version....no mentioning of a non-GA version there.
I am sure that must and will be corrected at some point - just don’t expect that to happen soon....in times like these.

It is a "multiroom speaker" as long as you use Chromecast or Airplay.
