Instead of taking a board from a google home mini, why not using a Raspberry Pi? There are a lot of tutorials on how to do that, google let you implement google assistant on raspberry pi.

Have bought an old Beolit 12 and will try to do the same - the pictures from the link in this thread aren't available anymore. Can someone send me pictures from the project - where / what to do.
