I've had the same situation. Had this a few softwarereleases ago. But it stopped after newer releases. But now it has been happening for about 3 weeks ago, I think. Looks like they used older modified software again?
I have two Essence's mk2, which only one has this strange behavior. I use this one with a infrared remote receiver in the wall. Beo4 controlled. The other one I have is used with a Essence Remote or B&O's app, without problems.
two Essences, no issues (both sw: 1.21.34087.134789577)
Both same software here.

I think I solved the problem. I looked at the settings and Alarms were set as Enabled even though I have no alarms created. I changed the Alarm setting to Disabled and now it seems to be working fine.
Still same behavior. Shuts down after 20 minutes . Checked settings (alarms/sleep/etc) in the B&O app and device itself (the black menus). Toggled them on and off. Doesn't make any difference so far. Always started with Beo4 with Radio command.
I've had the same situation.
